Read moreI was originally excited to go here, having frequented Ragazzi and Fabbrica in the CBD and LTD and DSE. The atmosphere here is lovely and cozy and some dishes we had (such as the Tuna Crudo and Capocollo) were delicious.
However, the front of house situation here is strange as you walk straight from the street into the communal table. No one greeted us at the door and we were left standing awkwardly in someone’s dining space. After not being seated for a while, we tried to get the attention of some other staff who alerted the front of house girl, who clearly had an attitude and was short and snappy towards us for no apparent reason.
Seating multiple parties of 2 at the huge communal table is also extremely awkward, as the size of the table means you are sitting closer to the stranger next to you than your friend across from you. A better option would be to leave the communal table for larger parties or to even just leave more space between parties of 2, as we were privy to everyone’s convos next to us and also felt like we struggled to hear each other talk across the table.
The waitress who served us was friendly, but from being seated and given menus it took over 20 minutes for us to be asked for our order, by which point we were considering leaving and going across the road to a different venue due to the poor experience we’d had thus far.
The entrees were good, but notably, the bread was served cold like it had just come out of a refrigerator. No top ups were offered even though there was plenty of butter. The pastas and dessert need a bit more tweaking; in particular, the Mafaldine and Tonarelli lacked flavour and the pasta itself was squishy and too soft.
This restaurant does not live up to the hype, given its affiliated venues. I’m not sure if it is because it’s just opened but it clearly has many tweaks to make. Having spent $230 on two people, this experience was sorely...
