Fish Face Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Sydney

Very disappointing for my husbands b'day. After way too many confirmation emails/text from them we are then faced with nothing but errors/misinformation and waitress who doesn't have a clue what's available. After being told there is no main ingredient for the mocktail my daughter wanted we were then told that there was only 1 chicken breast left and that wasn't enough for my chicken dish and daughters chicken tenders. Apparently popping out to Coles wasn't an option! So not eating seafood or red meat and no other vegetarian options available I ask if I can have the kids pasta - happy to have adult portion. Not really done but she'll check. Never came back so guess it was a lucky dip. Husbands entre of scallops arrived. Never knew they could be that small. Awful portion size. Then bring our food only to serve my original chicken dish and a portion of pasta. So daughter left waiting for apparently and miraculously her chicken tenders - which they did actually have and eventually arrived. Other waitress was shocked when we told her what had happened and advised they were always on the menu. Lack of communication big time. Asked for the Bill which took ages so went up to pay and they had a surprise dessert with sparkler for husbands b'day. Nice try but by now we just wanted to leave. Eventually paid the bill and so graciously said dessert was free. Lol. We never ordered it so I should hope so. The missing in action chicken tenders were on the house - as they should be. Went to club for dessert and a well deserved drink after the dinner fiasco as they never came to top up drinks or ask if we wanted more. Won't be going back again even though the fish & chips were good and my chicken was nicely...

We visited for lunch, excited about a new fish restaurant in our neighbourhood. However we left underwhelmed. Not sure if we’ll return anytime soon.

Positives Food was okay. Tasty but very salty. Our salad (cos and fennel) was good. Calamari was yummy and cocktails tasted nice.

Negatives Oysters had lots of shell pieces in them and the dressing was pure vinegar. Cocktail garnishes were strange; an orange peel that looked like it was chewed by a toddler and another with a half a mini cucumber on a toothpick. Service was disappointing. The staff were running around and disorganised. Many were friendly but needed a lot of help from management to know what to do. We asked for a high chair on the reservation (which I understand is not guaranteed) and never ended up using one as there were only 3 and in the restaurant and all were being used. Please buy a few more high chairs! The music was so loud we could hardly hear each other and the songs were more appropriate for an evening setting and not a lunch service filled with families and couples.

There is SO much potential here and we hope that the management will use this feedback and gather feedback from other patrons to improve the experience. Some simple changes and more attention to detail would greatly help...

I hope this review will help you for the futur. This design is minimal, not bad, not the best. The staff are good, smiling, friendly. The cocktail are very good.

When it comes to the food... You guys should do the all menu all over again.

Most of the entre are bad, to simple, no complexity and tasteless.

The mains, the beetroot salade is good. But the fish taste like water, probably frozen and not marinated in anything just thrown on the grill. The chicken breast on that massive garden bed was very bad. The chicken needs to be taking off the menu. Stick to explore more the sea food with a name such as the Fish Face.

The dessert, the churros are too crunchy as churros suppose to be tender. And not any cinamon on top that was way too much. The chocolate coming with it was defenetly aldi $1 bottle, switch with nutella instead.

I will give another chance to the place.

I saw the manager reply to all the reviews. It is good and i hope you will improve.

The waitering staff are good. Don't blame them for the review. But work on the food. My wife can do better and god she is bad.
