Well, we went back in July 2025!! I am a fine dining enthusiast and now live outside of Sydney, NSW. originally from the UK but a citizen of Australia now. This was the 2nd time at this delightful, intimate restaurant found on the north side of Sydney, close to Willougby and Chatswood. It was an abolute treat to be served French/Japanese fusion food that was a symphony on your tastebuds. Paired with french wines expertly chosen by Etienne, our attentive, knowledgeable and gracious host who looked after us so well. A 6 course degustation that started with a couple of amuse bouche, a scallop fish course in a sauce that was so good we asked for more bread to mop it up, a main course of Murray Cod infused with a leek & kombu sauce, (There were 2 choicess for starters and main and we opted for fish over pork belly and wagu beef), a cheese course with 5 excellent cheeses a ruby grapefruit palate cleanser and then a dessert - we tried all 3 on the menu and was not disappointed! A raspberry souffle with a friande and raspberry sable was my favourite! For the food we had in a fine dining retaurant, we felt we got value for money not just for the sublime menu and excellent food but for the ambience, service and general atmosphere in the restaurant, even though it was not that busy. The menu is described as 'Un Hiver Douillet' which trasnlates to a cosy Winter, it certainly was and we will be back. Thank you for a lovely evening which I highly recommend.
My best friend and I are degustation freaks. We look for them and go to the restaurants that are the most interesting. What a find here in Northbridge on the LNS. Small intimate restaurant, first class service with helpful and knowledgeable staff and then the menu and wine. Sublime. Every course was delectable, every mouthful was a symphony. One of the best degustations we have had in a very long time, with wines for each course suggested by our very helpful waiter who came from France. The chef came and had a chat with us which was a treat as he is so passionate about his food and with a promise that he will be changing the menu every couple of months we will be back as regulars. Thank you for a...
Read moreFleur de Mizu is a great restaurant. It proves that there are hidden gems in the suburbs and for great food and service, you don't need to go to the the well known "restauranty" areas, like Crows Nest, the City or the Rocks, for example. In fact, Fleur de Mizu provides a more relaxed atmosphere, without any compromise on food quality or service. Service is polite, friendly and very attentive and the dishes are not just enjoyable but a feast for the eyes, too. Good drinks selection, too, although, it was a surprise that they didn't have more in the way of sake selection (there is umeshu but pretty much where it ends), despite the incorporation of a Japanese theme. Great French and Australian choices, though! You are sure to find wine, spirits and cocktails to your liking, including alcohol-free, if you want. While it is on the more expensive side, it seems reasonable for what you can get and stacks up favourably to some comparable restaurants. They even include little surprises that are not shown on the menu. The degustation menu is a great start to explore their dishes which seem to be a seamless blend of some of the best of French and Japanese cuisine. The decoration is simple but it definitely has an European vibe about it. It's hard to find any negatives, maybe just that at some point the place got quite noisy (some people may take it as "lively" - I like peace) and that maybe they could do a little more...
Read moreI went on a Sunday lunch-time. It got quite full by the time I left. It filled up slowly. A nice and cosy place. Perfect for any adult gathering (couple, friends' catch-up, etc.) as it wasn't noisy. Food was great from the entree to the dessert. As well as the recommended accompanying wine/aperitif. The oysters tasted very refreshing. There was not a single hint of that ocean-y taste. (Could be because it was farmed, but of a Japanese origin.) The 'St Jacques' scallops were equally delectable - soft and full of flavour. The kingfish main was very flavourful. I wasn't sure about it as fusion-ed dish never really struck my fancy. But this one worked very well. The 'Saint Honoré' dessert was the weakest of all the plates. But it was still good. It wasn't too sweet and the pastry was airy enough. And the cream was light enough for my taste. It's a place where I'd come back with...
