Tucked away in a quiet suburb, Frank & Chitch is a charming café that offers a surprisingly sophisticated culinary experience. My recent visit here was a delightful journey through flavors that are both familiar and excitingly unique.
The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the burger. This isn't your standard café fare – the patty was a perfect medium, slightly pink in the middle, juicy and rich, with a hard crust from the sear that added a delightful crunch. The balance of textures and flavors elevated this burger to something truly special, demonstrating an attention to detail often reserved for higher-end dining.
The salmon avo and eggs were a testament to the café's skill in crafting dishes that are both comforting and refined. The soft-boiled eggs were cooked to a runny perfection, and the portion was generous without being overwhelming. The drizzle of olive oil and a hint of lemon brought the dish together in a symphony of flavors, reflecting the care that goes into each plate served.
The fish burger was another highlight. It was the epitome of what a fish burger should be: the fish was fresh, the batter crunchy, and each bite sang with perfectly balanced flavors. It's a testament to the café's commitment to using high-quality ingredients and executing them with finesse.
Another standout dish was the breakfast bowl, a harmonious blend of well-curated components. The avocado was notably exceptional, ripened to perfection, providing a creamy texture that complemented the other elements. The pumpkin was another highlight, cooked to a point where it was soft yet retained its structural integrity, a feat not easily achieved. The broccolini, seared to perfection, added a delightful charred flavor that rounded out the dish beautifully.
Their iced coffee, a staple in many cafes, stood out with its fragrant aroma and sweet yet balanced taste. It's a testament to their commitment to quality, offering a refreshing and satisfying complement to the meal.
Finally, the chai latte was a cozy, heartwarming beverage that managed to find the sweet spot between spice and sweetness. It was a well-crafted drink that provided a comforting conclusion to the meal.
Frank & Chitch is a rare find – a suburban café that serves up dishes and drinks with the sophistication and flair of a gourmet establishment. The ambiance is relaxed and inviting, perfect for leisurely brunches or a peaceful afternoon escape. For anyone in the area, or for those seeking a culinary adventure off the beaten path, this café is a must-visit. I eagerly anticipate my next visit, ready to explore more of their...
Read moreI ordered peanut butter smoothie($19) and my husband had large flat white in croissants so the total was $36 roundanout. My smoothie which is in under cold drinks section came at room temperature and was so thick that I could feel the peanut butter going down my throat. This is because they have basically stuck the peanut butter around the glass to make it look trendy and left some at the bottom. I went inside to ask for ice-cubes and explained that smoothie was at room temperature and showed a staff in the menu that it is under cold drink and she was confused at my request and said they have put ice-cream in it and I thought in my mind, they are still using ice-cream like serving little kids and she was like the ice-cream could have melted and again I thought of course it's ice-cream. Banana smoothie can be without ice-cream too which is whay I thought I would be getting given it has choice is peanut butter and protein shake. Anyway, she brought me ice-cubes and there was apology for the inconvenience. She brought ice-cubes and I asked her to feel the glass (not just for me but got future customers she can take feedback to the person who made it) she then raised both her hand slightly like I didn't say anything and handsup and said it's okay, if you want ice-cube I will give you ice-cube, It's okay, you I don't need to see it. What they failed to see is what they failed to deliver. She as a attending staff should pass this feedback to the person who made it. Now someone would write to make asking if this can be discussed and I could have told someone, well I did, to the staff but seems like it did not register. Staffs were overall nice but no-one asked, how was everything. I don't generally provide feedback unless I have to. Because I'm premium at Google review now so these things pop onto my phone as soon as I leave anyplace. Also, there was no savory in the counter display, just sugary pastries. I guess the plan is to order savory from...
Read moreSaw many reviews about this corner cafe that stands out from the neighbourhood. Many reckon for their Chili oil scrambled.
Environment 5/5 It is true! The queue! It was a Sunday and I arrived at about 12pm, it is full and I’m the third on the waiting list. Fortunately I don’t have to wait for long.
Service 5/5 Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Service is fantastic, they set up a good start for my Sunday.
Coffee 5/5 Loves the coffee, aromatic and strong bland.
Chili oil scrambled egg 4/5 I might have expected too much after so many reviews. It is nice don’t get me wrong. With the Chili oil and fried onion as garnishes, it actually taste a little bit similar to Chinese omelette. The hash is so spot on, I don’t know that’s a rosti or a hash, but come on, take my money, that’s really one of the best I ever had!
Cheese burger 5/5 The chips…. Did you get the same chips as Maccas? My eyes opened so big when I had it first tasted, that’s Maccas chips! Beef burger, with the patty, the cheese, the sauce. I know I will be back for this.
