I turned left off Eastern Valley Way this morning to buy a coffee on my way to work and I also intended to pick up our family dinner once a week from this place. It was going to be my new daily routine. I parked right out the front and was off to a great start. There were two people in front of me and a lady with glasses and longish hair was at the register. There was a man who I assume to be the owner making the coffee. I waited to order and this is where things went downhill quickly. The lady served the first person in the small queue then literally went and fussed about the place doing the most menial ridiculous superficial tasks (at one stage she was removing imaginary dust from a table) leaving the man in front of me and myself just standing there. This went on for at least 5 minutes and the owner actually left the machine and came over and took the order off the man in front of me himself. He ordered a coffee and bought a quiche so this took a while. In the middle of all this the owner actually made a point of distracting the lady employee with the glasses, pointing at me and saying, āthat gentlemanās been waiting a whileā. She seriously completely ignored him and went and collected a couple of plates and cups from a table which some customer and left behind. Again she fussed and procrastinated over this simple task leaving me standing there and eventually the man, after he had finished with the quiche guy, came to the register and took my order. One small latte. Twenty minutes for one small latte. Never ever again will I set foot in this place. Iām simply going to do what I always did and stop at Cammeray of the way to work, parking is not always great but it never ever takes anywhere as long to pick a āquickā coffee as it did...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe bought a farewell cake today for a staff member in castlecrag private hospital and received a frozen cake @1000 which we have waited to get defrosted till 4 pm and still the staff unable to eat the cake. It was awful frozen wet tasteless cake. I called for a money back and they argued that it is frozen and argued again multiple times despite of what I have said that the cake is not edible and awful š his attitude towards customers is bluntly disgusting and rude. I have taken back the cake and asked for a refund and he still continues to argue that it was not his fault. And he is the owner of this place and he called himself a pastry chief I donāt think so cake in woolies or aldi way better than this awful frozen cake supposedly made fresh. Overall the cake is disgusting 𤢠and his customer service is horrible. Disgusting rude French guy owner. As a staff of castlecrag private hospital we always recommended this place to all our patients and their family and this time We will never and ensure that the patient donāt experience such rudeness and we will never recommend this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been coming here on and off for years for baguettes, viennoiseries & the odd pie, but it's so disappointing that their consistency is poor. I've now given up and now travel further. It's such a pity they can't consistently make the basics well because when they are good they are good.
About 1 in 3 baguettes are overcooked and dry with a crust that feels and tastes like it was made from frozen dough, which is weird because you can see them making them fresh. About half the time the viennoiseries (croissants etc) are not good enough. Either stale tasting, soggy or most recently, have a slight burned taste.
And unless you get in early, they always run out of bread. So rather than pop in to see, I just don't bother stopping.
They've just refurbished and reopened after a long shut-down, so the service has been a bit hit and miss, but seems to be settling down. I'd just been hoping the quality of the product would also...
