We gave this place a go after 2+ years living around the corner . We always wondered why it was frequently empty (even on a weekend) . On a Friday they have half the tables stacked with chairs (closed off). Gobsmacked at all the 5 star reviews here!! Either fake, mustn’t know decent food or new ownership… it’s the only reason we eventually tried this place and we feel so cheated! Spent just close to $100 for 2 - 2 sushi rolls, 1 chicken thigh, 1 karrage, 1 pork gyoza and a soft drink. Ratio of rice to meat on sushi roll was 3:1 or 4:1. Just super stingy and didn’t taste fresh. $19 & $21 each Karrage over battered, dry and desperately in need of new cooking oil. The waitress brought this out with one of her thumbs casually chilling on our squid. Lovely. No sauce or anything provided (a fish n chip shop would have provided this) $20. Waiters all young and huddle in a Corner together. To get their attention I would look at them or put my hand up and they would just stare and look away (at least 3 times). Weird atmosphere. Chicken thigh in “goojojung sauce “ was enough to maybe feed a bird and was splattered onto a plastic plate to appear like there was more. No goojojung found but tasted like coles roast chicken $20. Gyoza was the only dish that we liked. Soft and juicy. $13.50 Overall this restaurant is trying to pass as an upper dining restaurant whilst serving sub par food at extortionate prices. Please go to ANY restaurant in strathfield and raise your standards a little (doesn’t have to be the rocks, north sydney or Japan). We’re not chefs well but we can certainly tell the difference between really horrible food and decent food

Nice surprise. Even though it is located in a regional town, the food is as good as what one might expect closer to the city where there may be more savvy Japanese around. The tempura udon noddle only has one prawn, the chef substituted with vegetable, probably a healthy choice.

Was passing by and noticed this place. Amazing choice and quality sushi and sashimi. Very friendly staff. One other point is that this place is very spacious and clean, which nowadays is among the top of my list in deciding on the venue. Will definitely come back!

If you have never travelled out to the city of Sydney for Japanese fusion then you must be overrating this restaurant. I have tried many Japanese food and I can say Haruki is not enjoyable or presentable that I would ever come back. I chose this restaurant hoping to try something new based on the comments and star ratings on google review. We order a mixed sushi and sashimi platter which cost $28, what was on the plate just 6 pieces of sushi nothing fancy and 12 pieces of sashimi 12 pieces. Fair enough that’s 18 pieces but quantity over quality is not for me. There was nothing else plated no seaweed salad, not lettuce, no wasabi, no soy sauce, no radish, nothing on the plate to make it presentable wow I’m shocked. We also ordered a pork bento box $18, pork was hard & chewy and no sauce. What does Manu on MKR constantly say - where’s my sauce! Apart from the pork the rest was okay but definitely not worth the price when you can eat at manmaruya for less and delicious food. I’ll be trying local pub food next time hopefully will get a...

First time trying this restaurant and on first entry impressions this place looks of a dirty Restaurant and it's an absolute junkyard with the rubbish and chairs stacked everywhere.. after a 2 minute wait I was greeted by a very bland waitress who seated us promptly Without a Smile or a greeting. Behind me was a small family with two young kids who seem to be waiting for food, our order was taken and food and drinks started coming out and this family ended up walking out and the man told me that he had been waiting for 20 minutes and his order wasn't taken. This made me very uncomfortable.. as I started to eat, I quickly realised it was extremely ordinary Japanese if not the worst I've ever had.... prawn tempura wasn't even prawns or tempura and the sushi would fall apart and it seems like they were only interested in delivery pick ups from delivery drivers uber eats etc and not people in the restaurant. It was very disappointing overall experience and definitely not in a rush...
