I came there and asked if they serve matcha. The lady at counter confirmed they do. It tasted like oat milk with sugar syrup. It also had some cinnamon/cardamon bits inside so I asked about it. It turned out they don’t sell matcha. They sell chai tea and matcha blend with following ingredients
‘Sugar, Glucose Syrups, Maltodextrin, Vegetable Oil, Milk Solids, Matcha Green Tea (4%), Flavours, Vegetable Gums (Guar Gum, Carrageenan), Mineral Salts (340, 451, 452), Emulsifiers (471, 481, Soy Lecithin), Salt, Anticaking Agent (551)’
Wow, selling a blend with 4% matcha powder and calling it matcha. That’s a real scam. Not even mentioning the powder had milk and I can’t drink cow milk, hence I ordered it with oat milk.
I think it was the owner who told me ‘What are you expecting? You are not gonna get pure matcha powder for $5’. Mate, you guys charged me $7.5 for some oat milk with sugar.
I went to one of the coffee shops across the street and got iced oat matcha latte for $6 and the owner even showed me that it was 100% matcha in the powder.
They did give me a refund but the experience definitely deserves one star. Please reflect on your customer service, product naming and...
Read moreWhat a cosy gem of a cafe. Stopped in for a late lunch and sadly the kitchen had just closed but they were kind enough to still make me a BLT toastie which was greatly appreciated and what legends for customer service.
The OG BLT was to die for and I consider myself to be an uncertified expert in such matters. Generous with the bacon, perfectly toasted sourdough and the presentation was top notch. Um the idea to add pickles was just a little bit genius?! Do I need to put pickles in all my toasties now? Only $12.50 which was excellent value.
I'm excited to try their other toasties particularly the Kimchi one which sounds amazing. Great vibe and would be really warm and nice on a cold rainy day for a hot choc or coffee.
Didn't get to see the courtyard on this visit as I had a very large bag to donate stuff to Vinnies and was sure to knock over tables on the way out the back. Just gives me another reason to come back!
Oh and their hack to reuse empty oat/almond milk containers as takeaway coffee holders made me want to squeal...
Read moreAs a vegan - So glad I found this place! There’s so much love and care put into the food. It’s not just “options” the wonderful owner makes a huge effort to source good ingredients and takes care when creating vegan menu items. One of the things I love is the consistency- always the same delicious food. And very accommodating to all needs.
The atmosphere is amazing too - feels like family/community. There’s lots of options, the coffee is delish! They sell treats for doggos and humans alike! Dogs are very welcomed both inside and out in the lovely courtyard. Love love love Heritage. Even brought my Mum here (non vegan) and she loved it too.
Def one of my favs in the Inner West. Don’t hesitate to try! I always get the scramble with pita 👌🏻👌🏻 but every item is delish. Had the vegan chicken burger special - omg! Hope...
