House of Teppanyaki Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Sydney

Food was tasty & staff were friendly to our son and they are getting 2 stars for that. It was my birthday of last year when we had dinner here. My husband organised it for me and our family as we haven’t experienced Teppanyaki just yet. But then I was heavily pregnant and cannot travel further from Mosman. We are locals and could’ve been regulars but with our experience - will never come back again. We paid a banquet meal for 6 people and - there were 2 other customers that was squeezed in to our table - THAT’s OKAY but what is not OK IS the food division, we understand they were regulars but it was rude of the CHEF to give MORE food to the other customers - they share the meat that we paid for - me and my family witnessed how he divided the food portions - I was actually getting upset on my own birthday dinner because of what we kept witnessing during my birthday. So sad. Even our 99 year old next door neighbour told us he left the restaurant — unhappy...

We decided to check out this place despite the mixed reviews.

We opted for the $52 set menu and we were all pleasantly surprised.

The squid and steak was just melting in your mouth.

The chef was very engaging. We and other customers present, had a very good laugh. The waitress was also very good.

Only thing we can recommend is a bit more salad. And maybe replace the spring roll by something else as all the other food was great and the spring roll let it down.

If you can also consider including salmon or eel in your set menu and maybe adjust the price so that customers who are happy to pay slightly more can also chose other fish than bassa.

But contrary to what many people commented. Even though the portions are not huge we were so full when we left. And we are all big eaters.

If they can also put another extractor fan on while the cooking is on, that would make the place less smokey.

We had a 6pm booking for our family tonight. When I made the booking, no one mentioned that we needed to be out by 7pm. After sitting down when we got there, we were asked to move as they had a booking coming at 630pm which wasn’t a problem. The food came quickly, very quickly, it felt so rushed. We ordered the set menu, the salad course was made up of a small piece of iceberg lettuce chopped up with a dressing - not that impressive especially for the price. They were taking away plates, including the ones my children were still eating from, trying to get us to finish. Really not impressed by the service and felt more like a fast food joint. To be told they needed our table at 7pm because they had another booking at 650pm wasn’t the best way to finish.
