A Fab Meaty Feast at Itzsan Yakiniku, Lidcombe, Sydney – A Japanese BBQ Experience to Remember

Our afternoon at Itzsan Yakiniku in Lidcombe, Sydney, turned into an unexpectedly fabulous and flavour-packed adventure—our very first taste of authentic Japanese tabletop BBQ, and one we’ll remember with great fondness.

From the moment we were seated, the setup itself sparked excitement—the signature tabletop grills, glowing with promise, ready for us to grill our own cuts of meat, chicken, fish, just the way we liked them. It was an experience that was both interactive and indulgent, perfectly combining food and fun.

We dove right into a selection that included succulent chicken, freshly grilled fish, and the undisputed star of the show—Japanese Wagyu A5 beef. Every cut was beautifully marbled, and the A5 Wagyu was nothing short of spectacular. Rich, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth tender—each bite delivered pure umami perfection. It's easy to see why A5 Wagyu commands such a reputation globally. The quality here was top-notch, and we savoured every mouthful.

What made the experience even more special were the authentic Japanese dipping sauces, offering the ideal balance of savoury, tangy, and sweet that elevated the grilled meats even further. Each combination we tried brought a new flavour twist, and it was fun discovering our personal favourites. Though Japanese Wagyu is considered a luxury abroad, we appreciated the fact that Itzsan Yakiniku offers a taste of that luxury without needing to board a flight to Japan. It’s still a premium experience, but every bit worth it for the sheer quality and joy it brings to the table. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable, satisfyingly meaty lunch. If you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine, or even just looking for an exciting new food experience in Sydney, Itzsan Yakiniku is an absolute must-visit. We left with full stomachs, wide smiles, and a new-found love for...

Waited over an hour on the waitlist to get in. Waiter comes out to inform us when we were next in line to get in that if we sit down (timer will start; limited sitting time fyi), the meat wont come out for another 1 hour. We asked for her to double check that with kitchen before we sit, she then insisted we sit down. When we asked if we would need to wait an hour for the food to come out, they did not answer the question. This happened 3 times. She then suggested we order the fried food while we wait for the meat. We then overheard the table next to us complain about the wait time on their first round of meat. I asked the group what the situation was and they said "we have been sitting for 45 mins and still waiting for the first round of meat and they just told us now". It comes to my understanding that she insist we order and eat the fried food first to make us commit to staying and paying. We ended up leaving along with groups of other people.

Absolutely terrible service and communication. Money hungry as they insist we sit down knowing that the meat will arrive in 60mins with only 90mins of sitting time.

I feel sorry for all the other people waiting after us on the waitlist as they did not even communicate it to them, they asked us to step into the shop and whispered it to us. Groups ended up leaving too because they either heard our conversation or because we had the decency to let them know since the...

i have been here for quite few times. Confident to say that not less than 6-7 times. everything is very good and up to the exceptional standard. Most of the staffs are very friendly and nice. But today I am writing this review to raise an issue i have been facing an issue with a male staff working here. This is third time I got a problem with his service. He greeted me and my friend with an angry tone and didnt do a proper introduction like everyone else ( he might know we have been here before) didn't show the professional manner at work. Moreover, he kept showing us his attitude while serving food to our table until we checked out at the register. For the first 2 times, i understood he might feel not great oe tired at work but this third time literally pissed me and my friend out with his bad service and attitude like he tried to do on purpose. He ruined our enjoyment at our favourite place. I do love this place and always come to have bbq and always my first choice when wanting bbq but now he has doubted us to comeback as we don't want to get served by him and his attitude. He is the guy with undercut hair style and he got earrings on both of his left and right lobes. I hope this will be addressed and the issue will be solved so we could gain back the love we got for this place like...

Oh damn, I forgot to take a photo of the food and by the time I did, we ate it all. Well it was delicious and actually it’s very good value especially the lunch. 30 bucks if you’re a member. And it’s all you can eat so you can stuff yourself, but you better be quick, because you only have one hour to order the food, but you can keep eating food 30 minutes after all the foods come, a total of 90 minutes. Actually, the best thing about this place is the order is done on tablets and they’re really freaking quick. As in they bring it out to straight away even if they’re full. So you don’t have to wait around or feel ripped off because they don’t bring what you want. Mate, it’s even faster than Amazon prime. The service here therefore is fantastic. That’s why I gave it five stars for service. The barbecue burner isn’t even though, it has a super hotspot in the middle and outside around it. It’s kind of cool, so not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. But it does mean you can cook your individual meat pieces really quickly if you put it in the middle. Anyway, I’ve been here twice and will definitely come again. Good place and they even gave me a discount cause I wrote this honest review. Well there you go the review is up.

A lovley restaurant with a trendy Japanese ambiance and friendly staff, but their all-you-can-eat deal for $59.95, 'order-for-60 minutes-eat-for-90 minutes' was more attractive in theory. Sadly, our experience was so terrible and disappointing that none of us would ever go back. Our first 30-40 minutes were wasted to figure out the iPad ordering system and trying to guess portion sizes, being mindful of the hefty $15 charge per person for excess food wastage. By the time we figured out the ordering process, we only had less than half-hour to order. See the picture for what we achieved in ordering! By the time our dishes were served, we were left with only another 30 minutes to both cook and eat. The impractical design of the TINY BBQ grill, in the shape of an upside-down dome, made food to slide off with limited cooking space. Grill changes will cost you extra money, and it's not included in the package. This rushed dining experience left no room for enjoyment of food or socialising with our group. In the effort of frantically trying to eat everything in a limited time, I ended up making myself very sick.
