KFC Lindfield — Restaurant in Sydney

My experience at KFC Lindfield has been repeatedly disappointing, but tonight’s visit was simply unacceptable. I waited over 33 minutes for my order—something that should never happen at a fast-food restaurant. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a one-off; similar delays have occurred multiple times at this location.

During the dinner hours tonight, over 25 customers were waiting inside the store, yet only two staff members were handling orders. Both appeared overwhelmed and inadequately trained, resulting in painfully slow service and visible confusion. One female staff was calling out order numbers in such a low voice that most customers couldn’t hear her, causing further delays and frustration.

The quality of the food was also subpar. My chips were unsalted, I was given the wrong drink, and the overall food presentation was messy. More seriously, I witnessed chicken wings being dropped on the floor, with seasoning and food debris scattered across the kitchen—raising significant concerns about hygiene and food safety.

Staff performance was shockingly inefficient. Both staffs struggled to complete even basic tasks, constantly rechecking items and taking around five minutes to pack a single meal. It seemed like she was starting over every few seconds due to poor focus or training.

To make matters worse, the kitchen was playing loud heavy metal music, which added to the chaos and made the atmosphere extremely unpleasant for waiting customers.

This KFC outlet manages to disappoint every time I visit. Grubby appearance, disorganised & poorly trained staff. They not only make ordering torturous (Tip: use app to order if it’s working to avoid this.) but almost always mess up the order. You must ALWAYS check your order before leaving this store. This store must only survive because of its high traffic location. Operators & managers need to be taken out into the backroom and severely reprimanded for allowing such a poorly run store.

Update: May 2020 - This store has undergone overdue renovations to freshen it up, unfortunately the service still hasn’t improved. How is it that staff continually mess up the orders & fail to include basics like napkins & spoons without having to check & then ask. It’s a year since my initial review & besides the store renovations no change so another star off for lack of improvement. Response to reviews from owner (Customer Service 🤭) is automated-like & action not taken to rectify customer service issues that plague this store.

Update: Oct 2024. Given the operators time to improve since my last review. Sadly, nothing here has changed. Average customer service & a grubby store. Doesn’t anyone at KFC get taught about cleanliness? It’s not only floor, seats & tables that are dirty. The entry door...

This is my first time giving a negative review. Usually if the experience isn't so bad I don't bother. But tonight the experience was beyond atrocious. 1 star is generous only because I can't give a negative score. Whoever (bar one nice fellow who fixed the error in our order with a smile) was on duty on Sat 4 Jan 8pm didn't care to hear or take our order. Then his counterpart scolded us to move from the pick up area JUST as we were picking up our order. This was in spite of them making an error on our order and we still got a telling off to move away from the counter! We were literally just picking up our food!! We were in shock as to the arrogance and rudeness displayed at this KFC. We have been going to Artarmon for more than 20 years and NEVER had such an experience. We are actually closer to Lindfield but loved Artarmon's service we kept going back.
