🍽️ Dinner at Monkey King Thai, Lindfield Just dined at Monkey King Thai in Lindfield tonight and once again, the food did not disappoint! I ordered the Panang Salmon with a bowl of jasmine rice, and it was absolutely delicious 😋 — rich, aromatic, and beautifully balanced. Truly the best Thai cookery in town. This place has consistently impressed me with the quality of its dishes.
However, I was disappointed by the service tonight. A female waitress (chubby, with thick eyebrows) was unexpectedly rude, and her attitude and approach to customers were unacceptable 😤. As a local resident and frequent diner, I’ve always enjoyed warm hospitality here — this was the first time I encountered such poor service.
I sincerely hope this is a one-off experience and not a reflection of the restaurant’s usual standards. The kitchen deserves five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — I only wish the front-of-house service matched the excellence of the food.
Delicious Value Lunch at Monkey King Thai Lindfield
I’ve dined at Monkey King Thai in Lindfield many times, and I'm not disappointed so far. Today I had the Stir-Fried Veg & Tofu with Ginger & Shallot Sauce—a flavourful, non-spicy, low-carb option that's both satisfying and nourishing. It came beautifully plated and paired with a free drink (I chose Sprite), part of their lunch special deal.
While their prices aren't cheaper than other Thai restaurants, they're doing everything just right. The quality, portion, and consistency speak for themselves. It’s no surprise they often have queues during peak dinner hours—booking a table is a must, especially on weekends.
For the best value, I highly recommend visiting during lunch hours. Their special lunch menu offers a great variety at discounted prices without compromising on taste or...

Tried this place once a few years ago and it was passable, if you had a craving for Thai and were in the area.
Thought I'd give them another try, but what a mistake. Everything about our experience was terrible!!
Staff were so rude! We were there on a weeknight and the restaurant was almost empty (should have been a warning sign).
We asked if take away is cheaper since it was cold and we were tired, kind of wanted to grab food and get home as soon as possible.
The waitress said, no take away is more expensive. So we sat down to eat in. Upon trying to pay we were told, no eat in is more expensive, so they lied to our face to get us to sit down and pay more!!!
Then they demanded we must pay their credit card service charge, which we were not told about and it wasn't stated on the menu, only a small sign on top of the counter when you go to pay!
Their dishonesty is atrocious, and I have reported them, awaiting to hear back from my complaint.
NOW FOR THE FOOD.....
Pad Thai noodles were raw, and so hard! If a Thai restaurant can't cook pad Thai, then God help them!
But the stomach churning part was my wife ate a piece of pork belly and asked me if I had chewed and spat that piece back out...
I said no! Then she felt sick, saying the meat seemed to have been chewed already by someone!!!
The restaurant had almost no customers, considering how rude and deceptive the staff were, I wouldn't be surprised if they scrape food off plates and mix it back in with to reduce costs.
We have reported the case and await the outcome of their investigation.

Read moreWe tried to have dinner at this place a day before 2021 Christmas Eve and they were quite busy with many take-away delivery orders. We ordered two of their dishes i.e. fried whole barramundi with five flavour sauce AND spicy crispy pork belly (prik khing moo grob) and requested to have them in an authentic Thai spicy way. We like to order Thai dishes as supposed to be prepared in Thailand (tasty and spicy) and not watered down to cater to Western customer delicate palette and that's why we usually visit Thai restaurants in Fairfield LGA area or special ones like Spice I Am in the Sydney CBD, or Khao Pla and Do Dee Pai Dang at Chatswood, etc.
The dishes we ordered were nicely prepared with good, fresh ingredients like the fat juicy Australian barramundi fish and fresh vegetables used in the pork belly dish. However, it did not come as per our request to have it as spicy as an authentic Thai dishes should be. Both dishes came with quite tame spice level despite the dishes' names and pictures. Too bad that this one aspect ruined our dining experience. Customer services and the place ambience were reasonable considering they were busy during the holiday season.
You can pay with all credit cards including Amex with reasonable...
