Kickin’ Inn is all about bringing a kick to your taste buds. Just a short walk from Petersham station, on New Canterbury Road, you will find this hidden gem. Australian seafood is generally quite bland, which is why, this Cajun style seafood restaurant is such a treat. They have created 5 original sauces and the smell alone will leave you wanting more. They even have something crazy called Sha-bang where you can combine them all together if you’re brave. However, the signature Kajun sauce (with a K) which took three years to create was the crowd favourite. I should mention that the dining experience is also quite a treat if your adventurous , the food is served from a bucket in a bag (you can opt for a plate), which is something that really strips down the formality of seafood, it's a fun bonding experience, being able to get back to basics and enjoy the flavor without worry (oversized bibs are provided haha) I am really excited for this place, if you go i'd recommend whole prawns in Sha-bang sauce or Kickin' Shrimp!

Update - took dad here for his birthday lunch. Just as good as the first visit. It’s a lot of fun as it’s just a big pile of mess to get through 😃 I was jonesing for some seafood boil Cajun style and Google threw this little gem my way. Took the folks for a late lunch feast and it was AMAZING!! I’ve had seafood boil in New Orleans and Texas and this was just as good. Shared the mixed bag between the three of us and no one left hungry. The bag is dumped on the table Louisiana style and it’s a glorious messy eat. The bibs are a must to keep the clothes clean so don’t skip that. Included in the mixed bag are prawns, Balmain bugs, crabs, pipis, mussels, corn and potatoes. Ordered a side of bread to mop up the saucy goodness. Really enjoyed the experience and will definitely visit again. Weekday late lunch is pretty quiet which is good. COVID check in and distancing rules followed

We were very disappointed with our overpriced dinner. The once-grilled barramundi was drowning in an overpowering garlic and butter sauce causing it to become somewhat of a degraded, buttery sludge. The sweet potato chips were soggy and limp. Considering the price of our dinner, we were given a very scabby serving of sauce for such a large bowl of chips. The 12 small wings at almost $2.50 each were excessively battered and coated in a glaze of ingredients leaving a confused pallet. It's a first for both of us to have received "table water" in disposable plastic cups from the dollar shop in a restaurant. It would have been nice to have been given glasses with at least a jug / bottle of water for topping up. Staff were friendly and took the time to explain the menu to us. We didn't like the fact that staff kept pushing us to give them a 5 star rating - a bit desperate. Would not return as stomach didn't agree with such rich, overpowering sauces as well as an overpriced menu. Once only experience. Good red onion in salad.

Kickin’ Inn provides a vibrant, casual dining experience with a menu that's big on bold flavors. The lively atmosphere adds to the fun, relaxed vibe of the restaurant. However, while the seafood is cooked well, it is noticeably frozen, which can affect the overall freshness of the dish. The sauce, while flavorful and robust, tends to overpower the taste of the seafood, making it difficult to appreciate the quality of the ingredients. Despite this, the service is generally friendly and efficient. If you enjoy a hearty, saucy meal and aren’t too concerned about the seafood being frozen, Kickin’ Inn offers a satisfying dining experience. Visited kickin' Inn exactly an year after my 1st visit when the joint opened last year. I can simply say the joint certainly has grown well not just cause of one reason(they just rock in all aspects)..the unique flavors of Kajun spices infused into the seafood took me back my days in California. My head's full of the flavors from last nights dinner with my friends who tried Kajun Seafood for the very first time and we were all high with food and they kept thanking for introducing them to Kajun style seafood. Kudos to Sami,Vijay, Pooja and the brilliant chefs who cooked such yummm food. Will keep visiting the place more often and get more of my friends...this simply is the one of its kind seafood restaurantes in Sydney..highly recommend all seafood lovers to try this establishment. Wish the team good luck and keep serving us the yumminesss...

Came here on a Saturday night with our friends and can honestly say the experience was very disappointing. Although the staff were polite and friendly it was clear that they were understaffed making the servers not attentive at all. We ordered the pipies, snow crab, prawns and Moreton bay bugs. We waited over an hour for the food to arrive and were very disappointed by the portion sizes. We can appreciate that seafood can be expensive and we were prepared to pay a high price however the quantity of food we were given was definitely not acceptable for the amount we paid. The taste of the food was quite nice and quality was ok. This place is definitely overpriced and more of a gimmick restaurant. It is an experience to try this restaurant at least once however chances of us returning will be low.
