Okay, where do I even start? My experience at Kickin' Inn Petersham was chef’s kiss. I came in expecting a decent stay and left with a full belly, a happy heart, and a mild addiction to their secret sauce.

The place has such a chill, welcoming vibe — you walk in and instantly feel like you're visiting that one fun cousin who always has good food and great music playing. The staff? Absolute legends. Super friendly, full of banter, and genuinely made me feel like part of the crew.

My room was comfy, clean, and had that “finally, I can breathe” kind of energy. But let’s be real — the food is the star of the show. I came for one meal and somehow ended up eating there every night. No regrets. Messy hands, full heart, can’t lose.

What really hit me though was the little things — like how they remembered my name, or the server who gave me extra napkins before I asked (a true hero). It’s rare to find a place that feels both fun and like home, but Kickin’ Inn nailed it.

10/10 would recommend. Bring an appetite, wear clothes you don’t mind saucing up, and...

We were very disappointed with our overpriced dinner.

The once-grilled barramundi was drowning in an overpowering garlic and butter sauce causing it to become somewhat of a degraded, buttery sludge.

The sweet potato chips were soggy and limp. Considering the price of our dinner, we were given a very scabby serving of sauce for such a large bowl of chips.

The 12 small wings at almost $2.50 each were excessively battered and coated in a glaze of ingredients leaving a confused pallet.

It's a first for both of us to have received "table water" in disposable plastic cups from the dollar shop in a restaurant. It would have been nice to have been given glasses with at least a jug / bottle of water for topping up.

Staff were friendly and took the time to explain the menu to us. We didn't like the fact that staff kept pushing us to give them a 5 star rating - a bit desperate.

Would not return as stomach didn't agree with such rich, overpowering sauces as well as an overpriced menu. Once only experience.

Good red...

Kickin’ Inn is all about bringing a kick to your taste buds. Just a short walk from Petersham station, on New Canterbury Road, you will find this hidden gem.

Australian seafood is generally quite bland, which is why, this Cajun style seafood restaurant is such a treat. They have created 5 original sauces and the smell alone will leave you wanting more. They even have something crazy called Sha-bang where you can combine them all together if you’re brave. However, the signature Kajun sauce (with a K) which took three years to create was the crowd favourite.

I should mention that the dining experience is also quite a treat if your adventurous , the food is served from a bucket in a bag (you can opt for a plate), which is something that really strips down the formality of seafood, it's a fun bonding experience, being able to get back to basics and enjoy the flavor without worry (oversized bibs are provided haha)

I am really excited for this place, if you go i'd recommend whole prawns in Sha-bang sauce or...
