Why are you putting in your reviews that this restaurant is very reasonably priced? Two entrée’s and two mains for $135.00. That is not reasonable at all, especially when you get substandard service, made to feel unwelcome and made to wait well over an hour and a half for off seafood. This is the experience. We were greeted dubiously at the door and were asked if we had a booking. My response was of course for 7.30 pm. The answer from the person who greeted us ”NOT” was I will check, as if we were lying. We were left outside for about 5 minutes and the wait-person finally came and showed us to a table. The restaurant was relatively busy, you would not say "pumping like the competition up and down Enmore road. We waited for around 25 minutes before signalling the wait person. She came over and asked us what we would like. My answer was some Menus would be nice. After about 10 minutes of studying the menu, my wife and I decided what we would order. Now it’s around 8.00 pm. My wife ordered her entrée which was cozze al pomodoro, mussels in tomato sauce. For my entrée I ordered calamari e gamberi fritti, which is calamari and prawns lightly floured with salt & pepper shallow fried and some garlic bread. For mains we ordered linguine ai frutti di mare and risotto pescatora. My wife asked if the risotto pescatora could be cooked in white sauce. The wait person left with the order and we waited, and we waited, by this time I am thinking review. Now it was 8.45 pm. Then suddenly the calamari and prawns arrived. A few minutes later the garlic bread arrived. The calamari and prawns were actually very palatable, the serving was not generous at all. The garlic bread was like cement, dry and tough as an old shoe. This happens when the garlic bread has come out of the salamander and has been allowed to cool down. The garlic bread then, some time later is reheated and served. The result being a tough dried up piece of yellow cement bread. About ten minutes later the Mussels arrived. The mussels were tiny and out of season. The sauce was under cooked and tasted like a can of tomato soup. My wife suddenly gagged and removed a mussel from her mouth and said it tasted disgusting. I reached over and took the mussel and smelt it. How do I describe the smell? Well it STUNK! It was rancid. Then I tried one from the bowl and "Jack Pot” I got one. I called the wait person over and told them. She said "if you called me earlier I would of got the Chef to make you another one" ?? I am thinking hang on there is only 2 mussels that have been touched. I am also thinking, I really do not want another bowl of rancid stinky mussels. So I said just take it away. I stepped back and kept quiet because I came to the restaurant to have a relaxing and enjoyable evening with the best person in my life. see where this About 15 minutes later, now it’s around 9.00 pm, the mains arrived. Oh no, I ordered more seafood. The linguine ai frutti di mare and risotto pescatora arrived within 2 minutes of each other. The linguini was thick spaghetti and was far from “al dente” the “spaghetti” was under cooked and still white in the center, it was hard. The risotto was undercooked as well and it was like chewing on bullets and it was in the same red sauce as the linguine. We specifically ordered white sauce the risotto. The colour of the sauce in both dishes was Identical and tasted the same. The big fat linguini was very salty. Usually that means off seafood is washed is salt to hide the stench. My wife started to eat her risotto when again she got a rotten mussel and again I smelt it and it STUNK. I put my utensils down and called a staff member over and told her that the risotto also has decayed mussels in it. She said that no one else in the restaurant complained and she will talk to the Chef. She came back and and told me at certain times of the year mussels stink and handed the bill. Really they Stink? If you want your night ruined and to be treated like a liar and to eat rotting seafood this is the place for you. They do not deserve...
Read moreA friend and I went to this restaurant for some dessert after we had already had dinner. The place was quite full so we were asked to wait for a table and we happily did. It was quite cold at the time, so when the staff came back and said the only table they had was outside, we agreed and took a seat. We asked for 1 tiramisu to share and the waitress who took our order seemed a bit confused but took the order and went back inside anyway. A few minutes later, another female staff who appeared to possibly be an owner or manager, came to our table and said that they couldn't give us a table just for a dessert and that we needed to leave. We couldn't quite comprehend what was happening out of pure confusion, but nevertheless we left. As we were walking back to our car, it dawned on me that the way we were asked to leave was unnecessary and quite rude considering there were a few things they could have done instead of straight out getting us to leave. So we went back. I asked for the same female staff, and I expressed to her that we were quite disappointed by the way she asked us to leave, and if there was an issue such as a minimum order ($20) which we hadn't noticed, then the waitress could have mentioned it to us, before leaving with the order. We would have ordered more. The staff then went on to get very heated and aggressive saying that we should have known and they can't afford to give out a table just for a dessert. We tried to explain again that, all they needed to do was to come back to our table and tell us they have a minimum order and ASK if we wanted to order something else, instead of straight kicking us out. At this point, another male staff came up to us, and also joined in with the female staff, now implying that we'd never been to a restaurant with a minimum order before. By this point, we were so disgusted we just decided to leave. I cannot believe that in any situation, staff could be so rude, quick to judge and cold. Any restaurant can have good food, but if you have staff that treat you so poorly, even the food loses its taste.
Edit after owner response: Thank you for the correction of the minimum expenditure, my mistake. I understand where you are coming from. However I notice that you have disregarded the main point of the fact that your staff should have informed us at the time of taking the order, instead of going away from the table then bringing back the other female staff who proceeded to ask us to leave. The point is not that our initial order wouldn't have covered your linen cost- the point is that you chose a much harsher method of dealing with customers who would happily have ordered more if only we were told that we needed to order more than $20 worth of food. Thanks for your response to only a very minor part of my review. I hope you...
Read moreStopped in for dinner before attending a show and had a damn lovely time. 'Genuine' is the vibe - the art of hospitality is alive and well in the hosts who took care of us, and I do mean that quite literally. We were shown to a table and had napkins laid in our laps like a scene out of a movie. At no point did I feel like I was hovered or neglected, the hosts were attentive and considerate, the gentleman a consummate conversationalist who engaged many of the other patrons in welcome banter, which was very well received and really gave the room a homey feel. Sometimes you just want to eat and be left alone, and some people want a side of socialisation, and I recommend this place for those in the mood for the latter. We asked for a wine recommendation and were pleased with the result, and the food was hearty. I'd never had the experience of having fresh parmesan grated over my food before and was low-key thrilled by it, the simple novelty was charming and I am high-key a fiend for parmesan.
The only shame is that I am not a local, but if you are in the area I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and recommend it...
