We’re always on the hunt for a good new place to visit and driving through Enmore one day we spotted ‘Ladies and Gentlemen cafe diner’. It’s in a quiet spot of Enmore and we would describe this as a neighbourhood cafe. Plenty of locals are frequenting the cafe but if you’re coming from afar there’s also ample spots to park. We like this area for its not as busy as the main strips you’ll find in Marrickville, Enmore and Newtown. From outside it looks trendy, typical of the Marrickville cafes. Inside it’s minimalist, wooden tables and some cool wall art. Fiona one of the owners also showcases some of her floristry. One of the great things about this cafe is the absolutely delightful owners. Ben and Fiona are originally from Taiwan (a country we absolutely love, so we instantly felt a connection here), and Fiona (chef) has also spent time working in fine dining establishments in France and Singapore. This duo have invested their time and energy into this cafe, creating a menu that is inspired, shows culinary technique in flavour combinations. We honestly feel that behind a great venue and food has to be matched with staff, and we feel that’s definitely the case here. The menu is extensive, with dishes highlighting fresh and natural ingredients that show lovely flavours and presentation. We feel the prices here are also very reasonable. For example, blueberry pancakes are only $8. We’re in a dining party of three and opt to share a few things. If porridge is on a menu, and no matter the weather, I’ll be sure to order it. The porridge here was different to most I’ve had, but in a good way. Their Millet & brown rice porridge is only $12 and is super generous in size. Made with millet, brown rice, quinoa and cooked warm with almond milk and topped with roasted pears, sultanas, mixed seeds, shredded coconuts and maple syrup. Creamy and delicious. It’s a good option for those on a gluten free, vegetarian or vegan diet. Followed up by their beets & feta for $17, was a stack of beetroot and feta cheese patties served with avocado, cabbage slaw, sunflower seeds, walnuts, alfalfa and a poached egg. These were soft patties packed with flavour and we really enjoyed these. The highlight for us was their Taiwanese pockets for $13.50 ($3.50 extra for fries) as these reminded us fondly of our trip there. Two pita pockets were filled with a light Taiwanese style fried chicken, Shredded cabbage, sweet and sour cucumber and aioli. Super moreish and we’d be back for these in a heartbeat. Finishing off with the visually stunning and stomach satisfying French toast. Their Coconut French toast was sitting atop home made chocolate soil, served with fresh fruits, roasted almond flakes and topped with whipped cream and maple syrup The menu has a really good range of sweet and savoury. Breakfast wraps, muesli, omelettes, as well as a few Taiwanese influences meals like their rice bowl and Pork shogayaki. It’s really quite appropriate for anyone of any age and dietary requirements. Drink wise, they have nice coffee, special tea - I enjoyed the Taiwanese, as well as in house made iced tea. We tried the refreshing apple on our visit. The heartwarming nature of Ben and Fiona has been showcased in this cafe and we hope to encourage you to visit and see...
Read moreA cozy hidden gem of a Cafe tucked in Enmore run by the most genuine people you will meet. I had the opportunity to finally visit the Cafe after seeing the food and hearing stories from others and It did not dissapoint.
The setting is warm and inviting and you are greeted by the most friendly and welcoming staff the moment you walk in.
The food was quite the statement that highlights the atmosphere of the Cafe and its owners. Nothing short of delicious and exceeding my expectations. The Bai kut rice set was well presented so simply but every element of the dish, including the pork chop, complement each other so well that it was such a joy to eat. It felt like such a warm home dish you would eat after a long day at work, very comforting. The Taiwanese pockets were so delicious as well! The flavours of the dishes were delicious that I would pay more for them, yet they are well priced and definitely worth the visit. The coffee was the icing on the cake for me. I tried the single origin Colombia bean Cold Brew, and it was so pleasant to drink that it had no bitterness to it which was surprising.
In all, great food, atmosphere, coffee, staff and Especially the owners. Affordable Taiwanese Cafe food worth the trip. Will be back...
Read moreI’ve been a regular customer of this cafe for over two years and have come to appreciate the tremendous effort Fiona and Ben put in to ensure the menu remains original and interesting, the quality of the food produce fresh and optimal, and the genuine ‘go out of their way’ service of all the staff they employ.
You only have to visit mid morning on a Public Holiday or a weekend to see the cafe literally bursting at the seams and people waiting patiently for a table. Has to be seen to be believed!
Every dish is carefully prepared. From the superb scrambled eggs to the Ladies and Gentleman Rice Bowl, you are in for a real treat. And the prices are surprisingly low for such quality fare.
The coffee is also superb. I’m fortunate to live in Newtown/Enmore, where I have many options for coffee. However this is my favourite blend without a doubt.
In summary, I am lucky to have found such a friendly neighbourhood cafe of such quality where you are always welcomed. I’ll always support such decent, hardworking...
