Have been coming regularly for 7 years but how times have changed. The Warren View used to be the home of great service, prices and food but no anymore. The last few times I had been I noticed that it was much quieter than it used to be and now I know why. We visited last Friday afternoon and ordered a burger and fish and chips. The food was delivered without cutlery or serviettes - you need to go and source those yourself despite 5 staff standing behind the bar talking when the venue was close to empty. The burger buns were completely waterlogged making it inedible. It was returned to the kitchen with an explanation only to receive a smile and a ‘thank you’ The fish seemed reasonable until it became apparent that it was raw in the middle. One of the 5 staff behind the bar found time to come over. When she saw that the fish was uneaten, she asked was anything wrong – explained it was raw the and response was ‘feed it to your dog’ in some south American backpacker dialect. So there it is folks, this is the Warren View in 2025 – the staff and management couldn’t care less. I can live with beer prices being jacked up by 20% but being charged expensive prices for inedible food is a bridge too far. Not sure why anyone would bother given the plethora of options on Enmore Road or in the brewery precinct. We might be back one day but only when the ownership / management change which is clearly only a...

The Warren View deserves 3.5 stars, and probably leans toward 4 but I'll hold off until a return visit. I don't think I caught them at their best but the potential's obviously there.
Friendly staff. Decent range of beers, poured competently and priced at what you'd expect for the area.
Maybe I just arrived at an odd hour, but the front bar had a strange sort of vibe going on. Seemed to be held down by the sort of old time sports-bar fellas who spend most of their day in the pub, watching flies drown in their untouched middies when not ducking out for the TAB.
Contrast this with the giant beer garden, which is surely a big draw for families (weekend afternoons) and students (nights). Very pleasant spot for a session when it's quiet. A bit of an oasis in what remains a hectic, crappish intersection full of narrow shops.
Pro tip: mosquito spray. If mosquitos like you, then they're going to love you out back of the Warren View.
Ambivalent review for an ambivalent visit. I'll try again. Watch this space.
Missy The Cat Star Ratings:
5 - a place of rare genius that merits repeated return visits
4 - a strong effort with no major shortcomings
3 - a solid, worthy effort with perhaps one important thing to fix
2 - several important things wrong, but at least one important thing right
1 - can't be given a zero, doesn't deserve a dollar (as of...
Read moreI love this place - it's one of the few pubs not owned by Merivale or similar, which is the first good thing about it. On top of that, the food is really good. Like every place some nights it's better than others but it's always great value for money and their always improving the menu with options for vegan & vege, as well as all your classics. Lot's of local beer options, as well as your classic Young Henry's. The staff are always friendly, not in a 'fake smile service' kind of way, even if they're having a bad day they always make you feel like you're all on the same side together, part of the local community etc. If you like AFL they play the Swans games with the sound on the big screen outside, I think they also play the other games too but I'm not sure. Outside is super nice with lots of fairy lights and trees, try in the back garden if you want to be away from the screens, or in the outside "restaurant" type area if you don't mind the screens, and the front bar is your classic local pub feel. Honestly just all round great pub, would recommend for pretty much anyone who just wants a nice and laid back...
