We like to try an support small businesses and this night was no exception, so we decided to try this restaurant.
We arrived at this restaurant a little late in the evening knowing that they may be about to close, but thought we would try anyway since there were still 2 other customers in there and then staff. We walked in with the intention to eat in, however as it was a really cold night we took a few seconds to decide whether to eat in or take away, considering time, the extra work for staff and when they may be closing.
We asked the lady with the beanie on, (who was standing behind a little table which seemed to be a temporary extension to the counter and maybe covid safe protocol) what time the restaurant was closing. She immediately pointed to one menu before yelling at us "eat here" then pointed to another menu that said "take away". We acknowledged her and then asked again what time they were closing to which she then yelled at us again "you tell me your choice, eat here or take away".
We were quite taken back by this as we had only just walked in and were met with such hostile and rude service. Suffice to say we did not stay nor would we be returning... my guess would be that if this is the type of front facing service, I can only imagine how our food would have turned out.
Based on customer service alone, we DO NOT recommend this place at all. Extremely...

Mongolian lamb was perfect, even though I like seeing more veggies in there, this had more onion than meat but still highly satisfying in flavour and texture. Salt and pepper squid was crunchy, well seasoned, but lacked in golden colour. Still, very pleasing. Honey chicken was rubbery and lacking in sauce, some bits were sauceless.am used to receiving a tub with honey sauce, but that wasnt the case here. Sweet and sour pork was served separately, battered pork in one container, sauce with few chunks of overcooked veggies in another. Meat and sauce well under seasoned, sauce lacked its kick, very bland and uncomplementing to the chewy mini chuncks of meat. This dish deserves no stars. Its a bit disheartening to receive a dish with the meat separate to sauce. Shows the operation of kitchen as lazy, pre prepped sauces with separatly prepared meat which are combined as ordered. I know this is the case with many restaurants, but one shouldnt be so obvious and lazy about it. Mongolian lamb and salt and pepper squid saved...
Read moreFood: Excellent. Packs a punch with flavour, great portion sizes and reasonably priced in comparison to other Chinese Restaurants within the area.
Service: I guess you don’t go to a local Chinese restaurant to be given exceptional service. As long as they get your order right (luckily they did). I will point out, the gentleman (who I believe is the owner), is quite rude, abrupt and disengaged. He was with us, though I did notice he had the same approach with other tables.
Atmosphere, for a Saturday night, it wasn’t crash hot busy. Lucky for us, we didn’t have a booking so plenty of tables for a quick sit down. I must say, this place has been around for a very long time and they do keep it clean and presentable. Which is great to see.
Would I be back? Look, I’ve eaten here several times and I must say, the food hasn’t let me...
