Entering the terraces food court as a group; the decision of where to eat was quite simple. The vibrant colours featured in Mamak’s village’s logo are a definite eye catcher. The first thing noticed is the cozy atmosphere: delightful choice of music and expressive artworks create a warm sentiment; one perfect to share a meal with friends in. My group tried a variety of dishes and the general sentiment was positive. The only comments were on how well the eggs were cooked although very flavourful. The chicken featured a simple marinade that could be assimilated to a healthy kfc. The rice is another story: perfectly spiced as a fellow reviewer would say. I was definitely pleased with this experience but believe that this chicken is in dire need of a sauce to accompany its slightly dry composure. The indoor and outdoor seating is just splendid. Big tables perfect for large groups as well as the occasional individual seating options if you’re feeling a little bit down on a certain day. I would definitely recommend this place if you are need a simple homemade meal. It’s also important to note that the place features a sushi fridge which can be quite unsettling upon entry to a Malaysian place but it does add to the convenience. I will definitely be back here for the seating, atmosphere and quick service, a must try for students.

Monday, 24-Jul. Order placed at 12:31. Food was served at 12:37. The Nasi Lemak with chicken curry ($12; see photo) was OK. The chicken pieces were very soft and easily pulled appart. I'm not a big fan of the dried fish pieces or the 4 roasted peanuts they give as a side. They should replace these with some veggies. I also think a restaurant of this side should use real plates and cutlery (not single use ones), -1 star. Also a bit disappointed I wasn't offered some water, -0.5 stars. Staff members seemed a bit tired and bored. Quite a miracle that I found an empty table at this time. There were however some empty chairs at the larger tables. I've had food at this restaurant in the past a few times and never had a bad experience. If you are in the area and want to try some Malaysian dishes, you can give this restaurant a try. PS: the website listed took me to a shoe store with the same name. I've suggested an edit (removed false website link)

1) Nasi lemak fried chicken is the best as it is crispy and meatyy. Have tried beef and chicken curry but just taste ok. 2) As kou shui chicken (peanut spicy) and honey chicken from the same fried rice as nasi lemak, they are also nice. 3) Stir fry char kwey tiao just ok. I prefer its hor fun more. 4) Forgot how penang chicken and fried rice (nasi goreng kampung) taste but should be just ok. Retried fried rice, it is a bit bland, the fried chicken also a bit bland. 5) Roti hawaii taste just ok. 6) One of the sushi mix that is unique and not bad also. That specific sushi mix that I like isn't always available. 7) Thai fried rice is ok, but I like other place's more I will just rebuy their fried chicken stuffs if the quality maintained. Pic: 1) horfun, 2,3) nasi lemak fried chicken, 4) kou shui chicken 5) nasi lemak chicken (or mayb beef i forgot)

Came for a meal at 8:19, and paid with no notice from the server at the front. After payment and sitting down to have my meal, he said that they were closed, when there were clearly other people sitting down with takeaway boxes as well.

When questioning the server about the closing time (which is 9pm), he raised his voice as if I was at fault. Furthermore he kept shouting and saying that only takeaways were allowed, when this wasn't the case. Should I have known that it was only takeaways, I would not have even ordered in the first place.

I would like to mention that I frequent this place a lot - so having such an erratic and aggressive reaction from the male staff is unsettling and disappointing as well.

Simply don't understand why we were not allowed to sit down and eat at 8:20 when there was 40 minutes to closing and others were allowed with their takeaway box - and this was only told to us after payment and...
