Read moreBeautiful summer day in Manly beach. From my hotel used the city tripper app to navigate the transportation phases to get here, train, ferry and walking. Directions were very easy and accurate depictions of modes, distances and departure times. The entire trip took just under an hour and the new sensor credit card transportation Payment system worked flawlessly. You simply scan any credit card with a sensor at the turnstiles and pass right through. No purchasing multiple tickets for different phases. Total cost was about $3.00 usd. Not sure if this works with Apple Pay on phone but they should be working on that too. Departed the slow ferry at the north terminal south of Manly beach and made the short walk through the shopping district as it suddenly opened onto the scenic beauty of the expansive sandy beach with enticing waves and tempting surf. Being just before noon we decided to try out the restaurants, bars and grills that lined the promenade overlooking the gorgeous beach walk. We selected a quaint outdoor grill that served the crispiest fish and chips plate I’ve had in ages along with a local favorite Coopers lager to wash it all down. Next we proceeded south along the walkway to the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. This is the perfect area for diving and snorkeling or swimming to view a variety of marine species in their natural habitat. Next stopped at the Boat House restaurant on that end for more refreshments while admiring the tropical forest that surrounds the natural rock lined cove. While people watching out north across the bay all of the ongoing activities beckoned to us once again so we continued our journey back across the whole of the beach stopping to talk to the lifeguards along the way. They pointed out the best areas to go depending on your preference for swimming, surfing, snorkeling or diving and we promptly jumped in to the inviting waters until the sun sank low on the horizon. The lifeguards depart at 6PM so we decided to finish our daily outing reversing our course back to the hotel with a full day of happy memories to relive over dinner. I highly recommend this location for couples or family there is plenty to do and could easily fill a whole weekend. Being so close to Sydney can make this a never ending vacation and one you’ll talk...
