Ordered: Tahu isi Mie kocok komplit Mi kocok bakso alus Nasi Bandeng komplit
Es Cendol Es Markisa Ronde Jahe
Service is good. Food is even better.
The tahu isi is freshly fried. To be honest, I had better but it is during a festival so might be the specialty of the seller. But overall I like it.
Mie kocok komplit is really complete, with all the beefballs, shiu may and fried wonton. However, my friend found a piece of plastic in it. Not a good move from the restaurant. But they dismiss the food charge so a good move from the restaurant that we very much appreciate.
Mie kocok bakso alus is delicious and the portion is just nice.
In my personal opinion, the highlight is the nasi bandeng komplit. As far as I know, the only restaurant that serves bandeng presto. Freshly fried, very crispy and fragrant. Also, the side dish, the fried tofu is really nice and delicious. The sayur asem is fresh and goes well with the bandeng.
The cendol is okay. Not really particular about drinks.
But the ronde jahe is delicious, the broth has a strong ginger-y flavour which is good and the ronde is chewy.
And another plus, the only restaurant I know that sells bakpia (a type of pastry which I believed originates from Malang)
Overall very satisfied with the food...
Read moreThis is a nice little shop which is tuck in marouba away from the hustle of Sydney city centre 😀 the food is homemade and taste great!
We had the yamien campus (beef noodles dry), mie panorama (sorta like fried wanton noodles with meat), ayam goreng komplit (deep fried chicken rice) , rendang komplit (beef in dry curry with rice) and gudeg komplit (stewed meat and jackfruit) as the main meals and we also ordered baso ayam kuah (chicken balls soup) and baso tahu goreng (deep fried toufu with special peanut sauce) to share.
The noodles, the specialty of the store, were chewy and springy (the Taiwanese would say the the noodles 很 Q wor) the sauce for the noodles were also delicious 😀
The rice was not bad and the fried chicken and beef were delicious.
The gudeg was stewed well and the meat just felled off the bones 😀 the stewed jackfruit was delicious too
The chicken baso soup and deep fried toufu were also delicious as starters.
The service was also great, they took the time to explain the dishes and also made great recommendations for our dinner...
The price maybe a bit steep to those who are Asians and visiting Australia (any A$10 per bowl) but the portion is worth it.... Personally I would come back again...
Read moreWe recently revisited this old Indonesian restaurant in Maroubra and the place is still serving the same noodle and rice menu. We ordered their specialty yamien with complete mix of meatballs and wonton plus the soto tangkar soup set. Both dishes are nice and authentic Indonesian style dishes, especially the soup is unique and very rarely available in Sydney. The noodle is good but the meatballs are just regular.
The place is not too big but nicely decorated. The customer services from floor staff is average for suburban family eatery. The prices on the menu are also average value for money. You can pay by credit cards but with very steep 2.25% additional surcharge, we opted for cash payment. This is unfortunate customer service practice to customers since normally the rate should be maximum 1.5% at other cafes /...
