More Rice Haberfield — Restaurant in Sydney

Simply great, fresh, quality food at good price. I am a foodie and love good food and been lucky enough to eat at the top places around Australia. That said Discovery is my go to for a very good honest meal. Its missing the chilli heat being dulled down for the European palet but i recommend ordering from the specials as they are the most traditional flavors and take me back to Thailand. They have some dishes which are more on the Chinese side but having eaten our way through the hole menu more than once now, I can say whilst some dishes we like more than others, we have not found a dish that was not enjoyable. The Thai Milk Ice Tea is presented like no other and I'd expect to pay $10 for it alone in a hipster bar not $5 I think they charge. Simply put this is no spice I am or House of which I use to visit once a week. This is very similar at much cheaper prices and equally fresh, quality and good size meals. We ordered VEG THIN RICE NOODLES and THICk RICE with chilli basil sauce on 20/12. Firstly the girl at counter doesnt smile. Limited customer service. She just stared at us. Owner needs to train people on welcoming customers. Remember we are spending our hard earned money to give you business and we trust your food. And we would appreciate a welcoming smile.

Secondly, food was not WOW just OK. I have had better thai food in city for better price. Tofu in our dish was cut into small pieces. The dish could be better if you add more pieces of ingredients. Remember vegetarians just dont want to eat major proportion of just noodles we would like some vegetables.

The sauce mixture ( chilli basil) was quite medium only. Our dish should probably be priced at 8.90 for the taste and ingredients proportion rather than 13.90. But the chef/ girl give me chopped chilli on soy sauce as condiment when asked for without any charge...

This is the second time I have ordered. Service and food are both highly commendable…. But unfortunately there was a black type of caterpillar in my laksa this time around, … I understand though that insects, bugs etc can go undetected even after rigorous washing of vegetables etc. I know most reading this review would say suck it up, but it can be a real turn off when you are ready to commence eating and see this floating on the surface of the soup!! I just ask whoever prepares the vegetables etc, in the kitchens, please take a little more care. Soaking greens etc in a warm saltwater solution always...
