Mortdale RSL — Restaurant in Sydney

$18 jumbo parmigiana on Wed. It didn't disappoint.

It was done properly, the breast was pounded thin like a proper parmi. Cheese had great colour and caramelized flavor. The batter was crispy all the way to the end of the meal. This is a feat in itself.

Normally the steam would make the underside of a parmi soggy, but this Parmi was crispy all the way to the last bite. I don't know how they did it.

The chips likewise is crispy to the end of the meal. I didn't have any soggy chips.

Salad had bean sprouts, which meant the management really wanted to go the extra mile. For the steam veggy lovers, my partner notes there was bok Choi in the mix of steamed veggies. Again another surprise.

It was our first time in the RSL club, it was pretty empty upstairs. There is also a children's section which is great.

I'd say this is the best chips I've had since moving to Mortdale last month.

Unsure why the place is quiet, but if you're young and want a good parmi on Wednesday night. This is the place to be.

Can't wait to try out the rest of the menu.

Just note theres no dessert on the menu, so keep in mind to maybe pick up dessert else where.

Had the steak with chips. Solid steak, cooked properly. Not many options for sauce, hence had to crack my own pepper. However...

Went there for a Mother's day group of 12 and honestly not my first option...to be frank not inside my first 20 pics. But after trying other potential places to eat and not finding either bookings or not taking reservations whatsoever l made a booking. SO, having said all that, it's probably 2 or 3 years since l was at the Mortdale RSL and while the de or has not changes one bit, the food l am surprised to say has gotten better. With 12 people eating you are odds on that something would be a bit dodgy. Not the case here. All l saw leaving the table was empty plates. Is it fancy food? No it is not, but what they serve is good old fashioned pub grub. Nothing wrong with it as long as you know going in what it is your getting. Our entrees which were Haloumi chips, garlic bread and salt and pepper squid were not only delicious but to our table in 5 minutes which was awesome. Several different steaks were had and all were great and nothing but bone remained on 4 plates. Tried the Ribs and they were excellent. All in all an excellent result. Prices were average for the area and l really have no reason to not recommend it. Good for larger bookings as the place...

It’s only a 5-10 minute walk from Mortdale Train 🚆 Station and there’s also a bus 🚌 stop just across the road. Every Monday and Wednesday Night from 5.30pm until 6.30pm, there is Happy Hour at the Bar. Morty’s Bistro offers a great selection of dishes for very reasonable prices. I have always enjoyed my meals there and the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Every Monday, there is a Schnitty and Schooner deal for $18 and every Wednesday there’s the Classic Parmi Deal for $18. On Sunday, you can get the Sunday Roast for $22. Every Sunday, there is a Meat Raffle with tickets on sale from 5.00pm. There’s also a Meat Raffle on Fridays with tickets on sale from 6.00pm. Every Wednesday, there’s Music 🎶 Bingo from 6.00pm and it’s FREE to play. There is very good parking 🅿️ right next to the club. I would definitely recommend a visit to this great club! Thumbs Up...
