Mr Wang's Private Kitchen 河南隔壁老王私房菜 — Restaurant in Sydney

I walked into the restaurant during dinner hours, around 6:30pm, and there was no wait staff or greeter to be found. Not a single one. I thought they might be in the back, dealing with other matters so I sat down at a table and looked at the menu whilst waiting for someone to serve, or even greet, me. Please note that the menu is written on a blackboard wall and there were no separate menu booklets, with images and further description, available.

I waited for around 10 minutes and still there were no wait staff. I got up and walked to the cash register to see if there was perhaps a bell, to indicate assistance was required. There wasn't. I could hear the Chefs cooking in the back and there was a table near us, the only other customer, that had their dishes so clearly this place was serving people.

Sat back down still hoping someone to come out from the back. Someone eventually did but it was to serve additional food to that one other table I mentioned above. He made eye contact with me whilst serving the food, but other than that didn't acknowledge me at all. It would have been pretty hard to miss me consisering I was the only other customer there. Gave up after that and walked out.

Given I can't give 0 stars, 1 star...

This wide variety on this menu in this comfortable happy atmosphere is amazing. Mr Wang and his supportive chefs put so much attention into even the smallest details. I have been there for many breakfasts and I have had many dinners there too. The food is Northern Chinese which is OUTSTANDING it is highly nutritional and the menu is SUPERB I am beyond satisfied with every aspect of this homely place. It welcomes each and every patron like a family member. It warms my heart to leave this review for human beings that have such a deep desire to serve their close nit community in every possible way. Or for those that may want to travel it WILL BE WORTH the drive. They will exceed your expectations. Without a doubt you will simply LOVE it. Their fried rice is perfection and their beef, chicken, fish, pork belly WOW delicious.......... Been in the area a year now, and first time saw it open during lunch today so my wife picked up a few of their steamed buns, one of each available filling type.

Good solid sized buns for $2.50 each (as wide as my 2yo kid's face haha), filling amount was generous but only real complaint was that most of them were salty.

There was Egg/Chive, Pork/Chive, Pork/Cabbage, and Pork/Celery. The celery though did have a strong bitterness to it, though that might vary with celery so not entirely their fault as such. If you're not a fan of bitterness in your bun, just be aware I guess.

They used plastic bags for the buns, not paper, so it would be nicer environmentally if they used paper, but thats just something for future...
