Food Poison Being an Instagram foodie, it is rare for me to visit a restaurant repeatedly more than 10 times, ordering the same dish over and over again, that dish would be the crispy chicken with drop noodles. However, yesterday when observing the orders of those seated next to me, the chicken appeared rough, unlike before. Consequently, I opted to try the “Crab meat, pork leg, and fish cake in a thick soup” for the first time.
When my food arrived, it was covered with a thick layer of orange gluey chicken soup that looked different from the menu and was not very appetizing. The soup was lacking in flavor.
I finished dinner around 6:30pm, approximately 3-4 hours later, I began vomiting and diarrhea violently. A severe case of gastroenteritis.
My vomit contained soup, noodles, and crab meat, most of all the gluey texture. I vomited several times and was continuously plagued by diarrhea until 5am. Had I not been able to fall asleep at sunrise, I would have asked to be taken to the hospital.
I was severely dehydrated and was hesitant to drink water as it exacerbated my symptoms. I also had to constantly clench to prevent any accidental bowel movements trying to sleep.
I suspect the crab meat was not fresh, and the gluey texture of the soup may have contributed to my illness. My husband and I had shared the same food for lunch, and both of us were fine; however I was the only one who had the gluey soup noodles.
I strongly advise against the “Crab meat, pork leg, and fish cake in a...
Read moreThis review primarily focuses on the disappointing customer service encountered during our visit to the restaurant. We arrived at 7.00pm and ordered two pho dishes and a crispy chicken. Unfortunately, the waiter informed us after that they had run out of chicken, which is understandable as it can happen.
Shortly afterward, another waiter returned to inform us that they had also run out of bean sprouts for the pho, which seemed a bit unreasonable considering there are several grocery stores nearby that could have easily resolved the issue if they were concerned enough. Nonetheless, we decided to stay as we were a big fan of the previous business.
While we were halfway through our meal, around ten minutes later, the staff started speaking loudly about closing up. They began sweeping the floor and stacking chairs, despite the fact that the restaurant was still at 40% capacity and it was only 7.35pm. Although the restaurant closes at 8pm, this behavior came across as unprofessional.
I honestly hope the owner sees this and takes control of this mess.
On a positive note, the pho itself was decent, but it would have been much better with some bean sprouts...

Read moreThis time around I came back to try other dishes despite the temptation of the crispy chicken which most people in the restaurant ordered. We had the pho dac biet and cubed beef tomato rice. The pho was ok, well portioned, had all the necessary beef components, nothing too out of the ordinary.. just a bit tight on the bean sprouts and the Viet mint but overall it was ok. The cubed beef was mostly chewy beef which suggests a cheap cut of beef used, a little too salty for my liking and the portions of beef were tiny. The tomato rice colour looked good however there wasn't much tomato flavour to it. The over salted beef and plain rice actually ended being a good balance to counter the saltiness. Next time I'll be sticking with the crispy chicken.
Not bad at all, ordered the crispy chicken with dry egg noodle. I like how you get to choose the type of noodle including the thick egg noodle - which is the bomb! Chicken was crispy and not dry like some other places. Could have been more seasoning/flavour in the dry noodles but overall it was good. Complimentary tea as you'd expect with these noodle restaurants. Service was good enough. Small surcharge for credit card payments. Would come back to try...
