Murray's Sandwich Shop (Cranebrook) — Restaurant in Sydney

I'll admit, I scoffed at the idea of a sandwich shop, particularly one located in the industrial nook of Cranebrook. I thought 'how good can it be? It's just a sandwich'.

Happy to eat humble pie, or rather, these excellent sandwiches.

Service is pleasant, with a team of efficient ladies slinging out their high-quality sandos. They have a bit of a lunch rush, but being busy doesn't seem to slow them down.

They also offer wraps and other bread-types, but their thick slices of white bread with a shattery crust feels more to the point. They do not skimp on the toppings here; one sandwich is a proper meal.

Have tried the chicken caesar sandwich and the turkey camembert. Both are delicious, but the latter is a real star, with a slick of cranberry sauce and fresh alfalfa cutting through the richness of the turkey and camembert.

In terms of payment, they accept cash and card, which is really good to see in an age of diminishing acceptance of cash.

Visited the Murrays at Nepean Motors because of all the good reviews and I had also good time last year when I visited.

The other day I came in 1 hour before closing and was not impressed by the service this time round. The young lady and young boy who served me were not attentive and couldn’t care less. My Caesar sandwich was rushed and tasted salty - I never requested for salt to be added.

I will still come down and visit because I know you can do better and the sandwiches were good the first time, but just because the store is closing soon for the day doesn’t mean that the quality of your service goes down please - particularly among the...

I used to go here on occasion years ago, when Murray's was at their previous site; and the quality of food and service hasn't changed - it is still excellent.

We stopped in for a couple of fresh sambos, a steak sambo, a fruit salad and a coffee; and all were very tasty and made fresh to order. They are generous with toppings/portion sizes, and the display cabinet is kept very clean. Service was friendly and efficient as always.
