Now I don't think I've ever given a review, but while me and my friends were out driving we took a stop and came across this restaurant I don't really eat out in indian restaurants as my parents are indian so most of the time I don't find a point and most I go to aren't that great. Though it's been 2 years since I've are home cooking as I moved out of Melbourne but when I ate the food in this restaurant, me and my friends ordered tandoori chicken, afghan chicken, garlic naan, vindaloo chicken and black pepper chicken and daal as well as some mango lassi. I didn't have much expectations but when I digged into the food my mouth was exposed to so many great flavours, I could tell the food was made of love and passion. Even my friends wouldn't stop praising it, and I just couldn't stop eating the tandoor chicken was beautiful and had a smoky taste to it. The Afghan chicken was creamy and tender, the mango lassi was probably one of the best I've had from any restaurant and the daal reminded me of my home cooking and the naan was soft and delicate in my mouth the black pepper chicken was spicy but not to spicy which I found being fond off too, vindaloo chicken was spicy but you could still taste the amount of flavour put in it. It was a great restaurant though you can tell it's new because the inside is still missing more decoration and the service was good it was everything you could want, I do wish they were more talkative and more loud and enthusiastic they talked very dully but hey if you work somewhere just have enthusiasm it'll be better for you. That's all I have to say...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews and passing through the Blue Mountains, my friends and I were really keen to try out Navraj in Springwood, unfortunately we were all a bit disappointed with our experience.
To start with it looked fantastic - the atmosphere was nice and traditional, if a bit dated. The menu was really large and had many options, quite a few unique ones too. We ordered our food and one of our friends meals came out quite earlier than the rest, which was a bad start.
When everyone else's mains arrived, it looked presentable enough but it was clear from looking at the curries that their consistence was far too thin/runny, more akin to a soup than a curry. The chicken in the curries & tikka were unfortunately lacking flavour and didn't seem they were left to marinate. The mango chicken was tasty, but the consistency was off-putting and it felt there were some ingredients missing in the overall flavour. The Chicken Saag was too salty and the vegetables tasted more like they were from a preprepared tin than freshly cut up and made into a curry.
Regarding the sides - the bread in both naans was fantastic, but the garlic naan was a bit too salty. The cheese and garlic naan was nice - but not worth the almost doubled price of the garlic naan. The texture of the rice was nice and tasted freshly cooked.
The Mango Lassi was the only drink ordered and it was slightly sour, I wouldn't reccomend it.
Overall, I'd give...
Read moreFood is good but service is awful! Have eaten here a couple of times, and have ordered takeaway. Each time we’ve ordered takeaway, the food would take between 1.5-2hours. Call the restaurant, and they claim to be busy, fair enough. But why provide false wait time, and when you contact them to enquire about the wait time, they hang up on you mid sentence on each occasion when you query your order! Poor service, and the chef himself will end up answering the phone and very apologetic but again can’t provide an ETA when food will be done. By the way, it was 4 meals, not 20 meals ordered.
Understandably restaurant may get busy but don’t provide false wait time, or accept further orders until kitchen team can actually cope with the amount of orders you accept.
Dine- in experience can be a big miss with wait time between meals and servings. Happy to give it another go, but very disappointed as the food is actually pretty good. Please up your service levels, and honesty...
