Ok. Let’s start with the food. It was ok but because of the staff’s unprofessional service, we all lost our appetite no matter if the food is good or not. We chose to meet up there as it was advertised being the dog friendly restaurant as we have two well-behaved poms. However there is a dog which was owned by a regular customer allowed to be free range walking around at the bar, whenever the dog approached and provoked our poms, our poms were upset and started barking. The staff instead to assist to seperate the dogs (or put leach on the dog) to help the situation, he yelled loudly at my friend and threatened her if our poms barked again, we need to leave. Unfortunately, the dog which is allowed to free range at the bar came to provoke our dogs, our dogs barked again, the staff came again to shout to us again and asked us to leave when we only just had our food on the table. We are also customers who paid for both food and drinks. Our dogs are very well behaved in a defined area with harness on. The only timing they were upset is because the free range moving dog came to provoke.

It is not an acceptable customer services. We feel we had been unfairly treated. We will NEVER go back again and will let everyone we know not to go. If there is a chance to leave a minus score for the service, I would score it as low as it can possibly go down too. There is literally NO customer service or even just a...

Good selection of beers and a great pub and beer garden. Good atmosphere.

My friend and I both ordered the fish and chips and weeks later it still gives me the chills. The quality of the fish seemed ok but you couldn't really tell; it was overly, disgustingly, oily. We both ate the chips and left the fish. When someone came to collect the plates, we weren't asked if there was something wrong; so zero cares I guess. We took the fish home for the dogs, even they didn't eat it until we peeled the oily batter off.

Interestingly my friend made comment later stating that he remembered that last time the fish was like this; he'd forgotten. I won't.

Given their popularity I woruld assume some of their other food is better, just start away...

I really want to love the Nelo... it's easily the best pub in Bondi Junction but there are just a couple of niggles that take away from the place.

First up the positives:

  1. cool old-style art deco inside
  2. good craft beer selection on tap
  3. nice area to sit and eat out the back
  4. sport shown on tv

Niggles:

  1. Fee charged on all card purchases
  2. No sign to advise of said fee
  3. In spite of them charging a card fee, they still insist on a $10 minimum spend on card spend - presumably to force you to use the fee-charging ATM by the bar, or to buy 2 drinks at a time
  4. Staff can be a bit hit and miss

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad pub and I'll still drink there, but it's a shame that with just a few small changes it could be...

Lovely Olé Pub, But food not worth the price you pay; subway meat cooked in a Sandwich press no flavour no taste & yet very dry, Salad no taste Broccoli burnt just terrible, As a local won’t dine in again yet we didn’t finish our meal. Sadly Cater for the public but not for your local Peeps. Sadly Customer service is out the window these days but for the price you pay for their food not worth the paper it’s written on, very disappointing. However staff are lovely company you keep drinks are good but upstairs canapés food better!!!

First I have to say I’m giving 3 stars thanks to the service, otherwise it will be a 2 . The staff is nice and friendly. However, the food it’s quite average, the prices do not match the quality of the food. I went on a Friday night, we ordered two sirloin steaks, and the meat was hard and tasteless. The sauce had an old taste. The fries were doubled fried and oily. We visit different pubs on a weekly basis and we had better meals for half of the price. I will recommend it for drinks, but definitely not for food.

Good quality pub food and the mains are quite large. The Nelson is good for groups of around 10 to 12 people at the big tables. Sometimes when it is crowded it can become very noisy making it difficult to hear any conversations, however weigh that up with the quality of the food and you can understand why we keep going back.
