Nene Chicken — Restaurant in Sydney

-The ‘freaking hot’ jumbo box of chicken was the favourite on the table. The spice level was great, there was a perfect amount of added sweetness and salt and the chicken was mostly tender and crispy.

-We ordered a jumbo box of wingettes and drumettes with half and half, bulgoli and garlic marinade/spices. These pieces proved inconsistent, with some pieces being extremely crunchy and tender, but others being soggy and slightly dry. The bulgoli and garlic flavours, however, were unique, sweet, sour and soy tasting.

-We also ordered the jumbo boneless box, which were consistent in texture, juicy and crunchy, but were missing a sense of unique flavour. They tasted like chicken nuggets without any spices. Luckily for the bland ranch sauce, they had some additional flavour.

-The chips were average hot chips, an okay addition, they were cooked well but were noticeably rushed, which is understandable.

Overall, Nene chicken didn’t prove to be efficient academic fuel, but there were some enjoyable components, which would be better enjoyed as a snack and not a meal. Thank-you...

Absolutely Dreadful Nene Chicken Experience

This has to be the worst fried chicken I've ever had the misfortune of trying, and to make matters worse, it was a 20-piece order! My order arrived cold, which is already a huge red flag for fried chicken. When we politely pointed this out to the staff, they seemed completely unbothered and dismissed our concern.

After some persistence, they finally took the chicken back, only to commit the cardinal sin: microwaving fried chicken. You can imagine the result. What little crispiness it might have had was completely gone, replaced by a soggy, rubbery, and utterly unappetizing mess. It was soft, greasy, and just plain inedible. To waste 20 pieces of chicken like that is truly appalling.

Microwaving fried chicken is an insult to anyone who appreciates decent food. Save your money and your taste buds; go somewhere else. and coupled with the terrible customer service, this place is a complete no-go.

We waited 15 minutes for our order, only to be served cold wings not even lukewarm, cold. When we returned to the counter to let the staff know, they simply microwaved the same wings and handed them back. That’s not just lazy service it’s disrespectful to the food and to customers.

Nene Chicken is a popular spot, especially with uni students who go there for a decent, freshly cooked meal. But this kind of carelessness is a letdown. Students and locals deserve better, especially when we’re paying full price and waiting patiently. I hope they take this feedback seriously and lift...
