We have been longstanding customers of this restaurant, however, regrettably we were treated very badly today.
We went out of our way to dine at Norooz today as I was extremely hungry and craving middle eastern cuisine. My partner was dieting and my inlaws were not so hungry so we ordered 3 plates to share, and with two little kids with us, we knew that would be plenty.
Later, after we had ordered and were seated, we were very rudely informed we could not dine unless we ordered 1 plate per person (6 plates). I was in shock. I explained to them that I've been to many restaurants where I've shared and no one has ever had a problem with it. I also explained that we had 2 little kids with us and my inlaws weren't hungry. I also explained that if we ordered 6 plates there was no way we could finish even half of it. Sadly, they only gave us the option of having the food take-away, but I was too offended to even consider it.
We ended up cancelling our order and walking out hungry. They embarrassed my family and I infront of all the other patrons. I am never going back there again and I would advise everyone to steer clear!!
On another point, I once dined at Norooz with my mum and when she asked for table water they refused! They said she had to purchase bottle water despite the fact that we had purchased many glasses of Ayran...
Read moreThe food was amazing, i went with my non middle eastern friend to eat here and we both loved it. I loved the Iraqi Kebabs. My friend he also enjoyed the food mixed plate of bbq he ordered.
I personally ate the kebabs it's one of the best in sydney. I didn't enjoy the hummus it had too much tahini in it, i tasted more tahini than the hummus itself however i told the owner that and he said "next time you can ask for less tahini in hummus". So i will definitely order hummus again if they reduce the tahini in it.
The Lablaby (chickpeas soup) was given to us as complementary by the owner it was pretty good as well my friend liked it as well so try it if you are there. Free iraqi tea.
everything is 5 stars except 3 stars for the atmosphere. Because the restaurant was very small and nothing to look at when eating it didn't look welcoming.
i give Kebabs 10/10 - according to me as Assyrian Iraqi.
mixed plate of bbq 9/10 - according to my friend.
i give tea 5/10 -------- 6/10 according to my friend.
Hummus 3/10 ------- 4/10 according to my friend.
reason i gave tea a 5/10 because it wasn't the traditional iraqi tea i...
Read moreWe went on a busy Saturday for lunch, there were two of us. We were warmly welcomed and seated by the staff. There were variety of dishes to select from the menu. The food did not take long to serve. The kebab, tikka and the chicken tawooq tikka we ordered were succulent with nice flavor not to mention the portions were generous together with the side salads and mezze plates that were freshly prepared. The traditional Iraqi bread was freshly baked in front of us by the Baker then served hot, no limit on how many pieces of bread you can have it is free. After we finished our meals we were served a complimentary Tea which was so tasty and satisfying to have after such a nice meal. The owner of the restaurant came down and had a quick chat to us and asked if we were looked after well and liked the food, it was a nice gesture! Really nice and authentic Iraqi food restaurant with amazing service....
