I donât usually leave reviews, but after my visit to Ocean Master Seafood in Newport, I couldnât not say somethingâit was that good. From the moment I walked in, the team was so welcoming and friendly. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The vibe was relaxed and beachy, which suits the location perfectlyâright across from Newport Beach. Honestly, you couldnât ask for a better spot to enjoy fish and chips. Now, the food⌠wow. I had the Fishermanâs Basket, and it was hands down the best seafood Iâve had in ages. Everything was golden, crispy, and cooked just right. The fish melted in my mouth, the calamari was so tender, and the prawns had that perfect crunch. Even the chips were spot onâcrispy outside, fluffy inside. Nothing was greasy or heavy, just fresh and delicious. I grabbed my food and walked over to the park across the road, sat on a bench with the ocean in view, and honestly had one of those âthis is the lifeâ moments. Itâs rare to find a place that nails the quality of food, customer service, and location all at once, but Ocean Master really does. You can taste how fresh everything is, and I love that they use sustainable seafood and rice bran oil tooâmakes a difference. If youâre in the Northern Beaches and craving seafood, donât even think twice. This place is a local gem. Iâll definitely be back! âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ â A very...
Read moreTerribly sorry for this negative review, the young man serving was polite and friendly, and the older bloke in the kitchen looked competent.
Sadly, the calamari was limp, soggy, and the batter was brown without being overcooked, indicating very old oil. The battered prawns, sadly much the same. The food smelt a bit fishy too, so not real fresh at all.
Potato scallops were hard-ish (not cooked thoroughly through) and the the batter was also brown and soggy. The pineapple fritters were sweet and enjoyable⌠only after peeling away and discarding the batter.
The chips were accetably average, but unsalted, and no salt was provided. Too late to walk back for a sachet of salt after sitting down at the beach to eat.
We actually chose to go back to Newport for a feed reminiscent of childhood trips from the Hornsby area.
Sadly very disappointed. No where near the standard of fish and chips youâd find at Dee Why, Brooklyn, Manly, and other regular haunts of ours.
Price for two, $50, felt underwhelmed by the meal and slightly ripped off. I didnât finish mine, it was too oily, fishy, and unpalatable.
Wish I took some photos for proof, but only decided to leave a review to warn others. Their game needs to lift, the only fish and chips option in Newport....
Read moreThis seems to be the last Oceanmaster in Sydney. I'm so glad it still exists. The food is top restaurant quality. The batter is golden brown, perfectly cook everytime I go. Not oily. Everything I have tried is delicious. The owner is very friendly and doesnt mind having a chat. I hope she stays open forever. You just cant get seafood done this way. The only other place that comes close IMO is a little takeaway shop outside Town Hall railway station but where that might be a 7 or 8 out of 10, oceanmaster is 10+. I'm a very fussy eater. She makes a nice thickshake too. They whip up a salad or coleslaw if you request it. She sources her seafood fresh and that's what is very noticeable. If you tell her your name she will remember it next time u visit ! Very old fashioned service. Going again 2day. I live 45mins away. The beach is across the road where there are tables if you want to eat there or a couple of tables outside. Trust me, if you go, you will go back. The calamari just to name one thing is to die for. My fav is Sea Scallops. Very hard to get them from anywhere. Did I mention the...
