3.9/5 Recommended but there are better options around
The food quality has increased lately, back to 4 stars. I may also figure out the reason for the separation between the noodle and the soup. The chef didn't have time to shake out all waters after boiling the noodle until it becomes sticky? before putting it to the soup for the noodle to absorb the flavour from the soup, or it is due to the flour they use.
I have to reduce the rating due to the 2$ price increase on everything starting from 2024. As I mentioned before, the quality varies everyday. Now, why should I risk when Slurp Slurp Noodle or the Lanzhou beef noodle has a more stable quality while being potentially cheaper? This is a good question to consider. If the price increase was 1$, it's still fine. However, 2$ is too much when the quality doesn't increase. If Slurp Slurp becomes more expensive, I will bring back the 4 star again, but for now, 3.5.
The food is decent, and there are many options. The wait time is around 30 minutes max during busy hours. Normally, it takes 10 - 15 minutes.
The service and food quality vary everyday. Mostly, the noodle soup is above average. However, there are times when the noodle is hard and tasteless.
Overall, this is my go-to place for dinner because of the consistent...
Read moreThis small family run corner shop is pumping out some serious noodles and dumplings (as the same suggests.)
The venue caught my eye as there's always a healthy gaggle of Chinese nationals looking to slurp down some quality noods out front or delivery ninjas milling in their high vis.
There's outdoor seating with great people watching, and the oh so authentic one-man noodle booths inside. No frills, no distractions just a place for man and his noods.
I ordered the dry noodles with chilli and shredded pork. The noodles were thick and bouncy and overall not too spicy (the chilli oil was banging), though the braised beef seems to be the crowd favourite.
Their menu has an extensive list of cold-washed/dry and soup option for noodles as well as some unique dumpling flavours (i tried the pork and dill).
Everything is made from scratch with the pan fried dumpling skirt being absolute top tier - a veritable platter of crunch!
Aunty is out back making dumplings by hand at lighting speed with two chefs up front on the woks.
They also have a great selection of local and imported drinks, noteworthy mentions were the carbonated hawthorn juice and the glass hand grenade of prune juice.
All in all a solid local noodle spot, would...
Read moreI'd ordered the fried pork noodles, pork wontons in chilli oil, and sweet and sour pork. The pork noodles were bland, I had to add chilli oil to flavour it, plus there's hardly any pork to it. Very disappointing. The pork wontons whilst plenty, it lacked the pork filling. I felt it was just the wonton wrapper doused with the sesame and chilli oil. The sweet and sour pork was edible, but I have had it nicer elsewhere. There are plenty of outdoor tables however it may not be ideal if it rains heavy. And very limited seating indoors. If you're a local and can't be bothered cooking, i guess this is the place for you. There are other better places to go and eat if you...
