Mentmore & Morley is the quintessential Sydney cafe, nestled on the vibrant corner of its namesake avenues in Rosebery. Basking in natural light pouring in from floor-to-ceiling windows and enhanced by the calming touch of indoor plants, the cafe creates a pleasing and bright atmosphere.
The breakfast was a symphony of taste and texture. The housemade Bolognese mince on Iggy's sourdough, adorned with parmesan and perfectly poached eggs, was an intriguing delight, especially when paired with the crispy hashbrown side. Equally delicious were the Dukkha Eggs, a beautiful medley of poached eggs, caramelised onion, pomegranate, goats cheese, and labneh on Iggy's sourdough, and the vibrant Shakshuka with stewed peppers, chorizo, labneh, and egg. The presentation was on point, with portion sizes that justify the Sydney cafe prices.
Service at the Mentmore & Morley was fast, friendly, and efficient. There was, however, a minor hiccup with our juice order - the cafe was out of kiwi fruit, a detail we were informed of only after placing the order.
On the beverage front, the coffees were well-prepared, and the fresh juices, despite the aforementioned hiccup, hit the right spot.
The cafe was immaculate, a testament to the team's commitment to cleanliness and maintenance.
While the plethora of dining options in the area might lead one to explore, Mentmore & Morley is a place I'd recommend and wouldn't hesitate to revisit when craving a quality breakfast. An overall rating of 8/10 seems fitting for the delightful...
Read moreA popular place with friendly staff. However, we were disappointed with the quality of their food.
I wanted the Wild Caught Burramundi but it wasn’t available today. That was no big deal as I was happy to try their special Filipino Chicken Inasal.
For what I know this is a type of grilled chicken with turmeric, ginger, garlic and annatto power marinade. What was presented and tasted like just a lazy simplified version of plain turmeric rubbed baked chicken! It comes with a fried egg, but the serving of what supposed to be salsa was quite mean spirited with just half a small dish of what tasted like sweetened sauerkraut and another small half dish of red onions in sweet syrup. The amount of rice pilaf also mean, there was not even half a cup! Overall the taste was nothing seriously wrong about it but it was just utterly unsatisfying with what felt like cost cutting by leaving out a lot of ingredients which made this dish great. Just as well I ordered an extra side dish avocado or I would have left still hungry.
The taste of my partner’s steak and mash was exactly the same, the steamed veggies, hidden under the steak were simply steamed, nothing were added to them, no seasoning, no oil, no dressing and tasted simply bland and didn’t taste very good at all. Yes if you have top quality veggies they would simply taste amazing without anything else but they were unfortunately not of such high quality. Overall a disappointing experience for a total bill of about...
Read more👀 Located opposite The Cannery, on the corner of Mentmore and Morley in fact. We were hungry for brekkie around the Alexandria area, my friend lives in Rosebery so he said this was the spot! Open everyday, 6:30am-2:30pm so they serve brekkie and lunch, plenty on the menu including healthy options.
💥 Mainly outdoor dining, and the outdoors is so inviting. Planter boxes outside and hanging plants inside, this place is plant city which really stands out amongst the white walls. The gridded roof will eventually have ivy growing all over it.
☕️ M&M offer coffee, smoothies, wine and beer from a local brewery. Or you can build your own juice!
🍴 Bolognaise Mince on Toast
Housemade Bolognaise mince, parmesan, poached eggs on Iggy's sourdough
$18.00 - a concept i’ve never thought of before but it works so well!! Bolognaise with the melted parmesan on top for brekkie!! I had scrambled eggs instead of poached. So simple and absolutely delicious.
Brown rice bowl, wake, radish, tofu, edamame beans, enoki mushroom, avocado, sesame, pickled ginger, bonito flakes and sriracha aioli $18.00
I would order the bolognaise again.
✨ Perfect for brekkie when you’re...
