Manoosh is at a level in the Newtown area where it can be called an institution. I have ordered from here several times and I have always enjoyed it except for 1-2 incidents. Firstly with the cheese pizzas and the lamb mince pizzas, I don't understand why they need to be folded because it doesn't end well when it arrives.
Secondly I remember one time I went in there to order and one of the chinese workers there put some of my food up on top of the oven and then forgot about it but I didn't say anything because I assumed he was putting the wrap with it. 15 minutes later the manager said "what's this on top of the oven?" and he lied to the manager and said "That's his food, but I just put it there I swear to god" and I said "No it's actually been up there for 15-20 minutes". So the manager said " We will make you a new wrap and give you an extra pizza free of charge". I thought that was a nice gesture. I think if that would not have happened I never would of gone to Manoosh again but the manager saved the day.
Update: Since my last review I discovered that the owners of Manoosh had sold the business . Now it is run by Chinese/Filipinos and the standards in the food have dropped. I went there the other week and ordered a Shawarma wrap and Falafel. I was waiting over 20 minutes for the food, it was a moderately busy night but they have quite a few staff on so it shouldn't be an issue.
When I got home I discovered my Shawarma wrap was missing a few ingredients, there was no lettuce, turnips or pickles, it was just the bread, lamb and sauce. I was kind of disappointed, I remember when Manoosh was good and was run by the middle eastern fellow and his team. Now it's gone downhill but I am guessing that Manoosh will end up becoming a franchise like Oporto. At least I got to try Manoosh when they were at the top...
Read moreIn this current iso climate, we’ve taken to looking forward to our takeaway meal to give a little reprieve from cooking. What could be better than Friday night pizza (or any night really)! Manoosh make both traditional Lebanese pizzas, folded pizzas, wraps, Lebanese sides and the traditional Italian sort of pizza.
With stores in Enmore, Marrickville, Waterloo and Caringbah, there’s a good range of locations to get your Manoosh fix. Order online or over the food and get delivery or pick up yourselves.
When deciding on a pizza, there’s traditional favourites like a Margherita and Hawaiian (amongst many others) or some modern styles which we tried, like the spicy prawn and chorizo, as well as the king prawn. The pizzas are great and have a nice light base, with super flavoursome toppings.
Gluten free bases are available and there are also vegan and vegetarian options.
Their specialty wraps allow you to choose your base, and your protein but on this visit we just opted for the traditional Lebanese zaatar bread. It had a generous slathering of zaatar and we absolutely loved this.
Plenty of Lebanese sides are on the menu and we loved the crispy football-shaped Lamb Kebbeh, which comes as a five piecer serving. Some of the best we’ve eaten, a lovely moist meat ball deep fried and delicious. We also enjoyed the light and fluffy falafel, which worked perfectly with the garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is unreal. If you’d prefer, they also have Lamb Sambousik, crispy chicken, chicken wings and triple cheesy balls.
We didn’t order dessert this time, but they have everyone’s favourite, the Nutella pizza, baklava and also rice pudding and ice cream.
For delivery food or takeaway, it travels well, the sides even served in cardboard lidded foil trays, labelled clearly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would 100 percent...
Read moreDear Mr Hoyek,
I've been a loyal Ooshman (Manoosh) customer for years, practically getting it every week from the Waterloo store. But honestly, the changes over the past year and a bit have been so disappointing.
My partner is vegetarian, and we used to LOVE Ooshman because you had so many great fake meat options. It was our go-to spot where we could both find something delicious. Now, most of those are gone, and it's a huge miss for us. I know you've had supplier issues, but here is a list of potential suppliers you could use.
And speaking of missing things – where's the mustard deluxe wrap?! That was a favourite! Plus, I've definitely noticed the chip portions in the combo wraps are way smaller now, but the price hasn't changed. That's a bit of a sting.
Then there's the new additions. Burrata on a Lebanese menu? I like burrata, but it just feels completely out of place and random here. But the absolute most baffling change? Getting rid of labneh! Seriously, how can a Lebanese restaurant have burrata but not labneh, which was easily your best dip?!
I'm all for experimenting and trying new things, but please, please bring back the menu we knew and loved (or at least the things mentioned above). We miss the old options!
PS I'm leaving this review on the OG store (even though I have net actually eaten here) in hope that it makes it to someone who can do...
