SHOVED IN A CORNER: A Discriminatory Experience at an Empty Restaurant

I recently visited Outback Wentworthville with my family, including four kids under the age of eight, after waiting at Westmead for four hours due to a delayed appointment. By the time we arrived, it was 4pm, and we still hadn’t had lunch. We were all absolutely HANGRY, especially the kids.

Despite walking into a completely empty restaurant—with over 50 tables available—we were told, unbelievably, that most of the tables were “reserved” and only two were available for us. Instead of seating us somewhere convenient, we were shoved into the farthest corner of the restaurant, right by a window where the sun blasted us, making it even more uncomfortable.

With starving kids and clearly needing service fast, we were placed in a spot where it was nearly impossible for the staff to even notice us. Every time we needed something—water, condiments, anything—I had to physically walk across the empty restaurant to find a waitress. After doing this several times, it became exhausting and ridiculous, and we just stopped bothering to ask for things because it was too much of a hassle.

Yes, the food was decent, and the service was polite when we finally got it, but the way we were treated—like we were invisible, unimportant, and stuffed in a corner—completely ruined the entire experience. And the excuse about the tables being “reserved”? Give me a break. We walked in to an empty restaurant, ate in an empty restaurant, and left an empty restaurant. There’s no justification for this type of treatment.

This felt like nothing short of a discriminatory seating decision, and it left a really bad taste in our mouths.

Last night my husband and I had dinner at your establishment and was greeted by a lovely host and was immediately sat at a table. Our server, Kirsten was extremely helpful and very polite- very easy to chat to and made our dining experience enjoyable, she should defiantly be congratulated on amazing service!. However, I and my partner both ordered a roaring forties steak which was quite fatty, we told the server and she immediately apologised and went right onto fixing our issue. We ordered a chocolate thunder for dessert and it was absolutely delicious! the ice cream was to die for. As well as this, we both ordered a strawberry peach sangria which was expertly made! (we asked who the bartender for the night was and we were told his name was Tyler, amazing drinks!)

When it was time to pay, we were again greeted by the lovely host of the night, who told us her name was Isabelle when we asked. Isabelle was very polite and welcoming towards us the whole night and was very efficient when taking our payment (even let us know that with all card payments, there is a 1% surcharge, which most people don't care to mention!) She made sure to have a small conversation with us at the end of the night, asking if we enjoyed our meal and was very attentive to us. Will definitely be coming back next Wednesday, especially if both Kirsten and Isabelle are on!...

September 28 2018 Outback steakhouse Graduation Dinner Very Quiet night so I thought for this Restaurant Entrée Blooming onion Wow ( have these become Small or what ? ) Cheesy fries small again ( Wow ) Dinner Steak ordered 2 by "outback special" rare ( came out blue ) sent back , came out again 1 cooked but very TUFF as was put on the grill and recooked. NOT EATEN The other was sent back again only to come back as shrunk in size , another replacement came out again but without the sides " Just Chips " the salad was terrible so told not to worry about it, the steak was still shocking to eat but my guest refused to send it back .did not worry about waiting on the other side as by now just given up Steak sandwich undercooked not very pleasant Alice Springs chicken another meal that has be shrunk in size ( But not price ) Cesar salad ( well Lettuce and 3 croutons with mayo ) so not really a Cesar salad another guest ordered Ribeye Medium but was very fatty uneatable photo attached . Staff good Service good Bar Staff Great Manager apologies but at the prices they charge you would expect much better. I do not like to cause a problem at a Restaurant so I thought a TRUE review would be the best way to view my DISAPPOINTMENT
