Service was poor from the start, eventually when the waitress was free to take our order, we were greeted by "What you want" The food took a while to come out. While waiting we poured some tea which was cold, we signaled in the most friendly manner we could and were acknowledged three time by staff who then went on to continue doing something behind the counter until I caught a waitress on the way back to the kitchen and asked for some hot tea.
First a lemon soda - which was flat, it tasted like tap water. While waiting for the food to come out, we counted two staff behind the counter picking their nose while carrying out duties like carrying the dishes out to customers and handling bowls and cups. Sweet corn and crab soup seemed significantly less appetizing after this spectacle. However after tasting it was starchy.
We continued to wait for the rest of our food. While waiting one of the customers ordered fresh fish. The young man who went to get the fish from the tank did not wash his hands after handling the fish and continued to serve customers and handle dishes. Next were the chicken wings which looked like they had been soaked in oil, and were oozing a thick almost lardy residue. Last dish was the fried rice which had been made with same day clumpy rice and was over-seasoned with salt and not much else other than corn and some egg. A very bad experience. I could probably get past the poor food, but not the poor hygiene. We left with three uneaten dishes. Definitely not a place I would recommend to family...
Read moreI had the Pho Rare Beef for lunch in this restaurant. I was feeling pretty hungry when I went in so i ordered the large serve. The stock was very good with that sweet beef aroma. There was plenty of beef slices too, whenever I scoop up, there is a piece of beef. The serve was indeed very generous and it fully satisfied my hunger. The only problem I had was there was a table where the elderly customers spoke so loudly and they were also shouting profanities without the care or respect of other diners. They were Asian and speaking Cantonese, what a disgrace!!! Although this is no fault of Pho 2U, the management could have told them off. Anyway, fortunately that didn't affect my appetite. After finishing the bowl including nearly all the soup too, I went on to pay and realized that it was only a small serve. Wow, I can imagine if it was a big serve. Most definitely go back there again and try other dishes. But I will see if this group of disrespectful elderly people I will not go in. I have also taken the liberty to include photos of their menu for the benefit of other patrons whom want to try...
Read morepho2ucabramatta is a relatively new player into the already very competitive Vietnamese food market in Cabramatta.
However they've done much to differentiate themselves from the older school eateries. At first I was worried as their range is much more diverse...this is a worry because Vietnamese restaurants tend to specialise in one type of dish or style of cooking.
But I was pleasantly surprised, even though the restaurant has pho in the name, they make a very mean hot and sour soup (canh chua) the broth is not too sweet, sour or salty, instead it's a great blend along with fresh fish and vegetables.
The tamanrind clay pot fish (cá kho tộ) that accompanies this soup was also very well crafted. Not too much pepper or tamarind, quite well balanced with just enough pork belly slices included to add depth of flavour and texture.
The crispy skin chicken rice was average, not in a bad way, in the way that it's done as well as any place in Cabramatta that doesn't specialise in this dish.
Overall very good effort....
