The shell of an insect was deep-fried and served together with the spring rolls. I usually like this place a lot, and when I visit, I often order 10 spring rolls at a time. But no matter how I looked at it, it had the characteristic pattern and fins of an insect’s shell. When I told the staff, they took it inside and seemed to talk to the chef, who appeared to be the owner. Then they came back out and said it was a shallot. However, the pattern was clearly different from a shallot. When I asked where the insect shell had gone, they said they had thrown it away. The staff member was very kind, but I no longer wanted to eat the spring rolls. After that, the chef came out, and they were very rude. They seemed annoyed and said, “So, do you want me to make it again? Or do you not want to eat it? I’ll deduct it from the bill.” While speaking, they made a frustrated gesture of circling their neck with their hand, looked toward the kitchen, sighed, and then asked again, “So, what do you want to do?” Unfortunately, there’s no photo evidence because the shell was disposed of, but I’ve lost a long-time favorite restaurant.

Straight up, if you're looking for a fancy place then don't go. But if you're after some generous servings of quality Vietnamese food, then this place is a go to. It's an open kitchen so you can see them making the food. Menu is small but has all the usual favourites. Ordered several meals of the menu and arrived in a timely manner and all were generous servings. Staff are friendly and food is good and harty. Place is small with tight seating for about 18 people but comfortable enough. Plenty of on street parking. Over the past 4 months i have picked up food from here a few times and eaten in once and always more than half full of people on diferent days, so i guess a good turn around of food is always going to be fresh. Have seen it near full on friday nights so maybe a phone call first would be good. Overall happy and would gladly continue going. 4.5 stars for food and service, 3 stars for seating. As mentioned it is about 18 seats but you are sitting close to other people.

I have heard of Pho Hanoi Pho and even recommended by a close friend. Unfortunately my experience was disappointing! The raw beef pho was not aromatic. The broth was flat with plain saltiness, no pronounced sweetness or what makes it more layered — the taste spices. Very underwhelming. The quality of beef was also not up to scratch. The Thai basil and bean sprouts were really fresh although such a small serving. If this is exactly how authentic bowl of pho should be then I don’t like it! I can name a handful far better pho. Try Nguyen Brothers in Alexandria or An in Bankstown for truly amazing Pho that’s not loaded with MSG. For those with higher level of MSG, there’s Pho PHD, VN, Pasteur, Yen’s & Tau Bay… I was also completely disappointed with their Crispy Skin Chicken, it’s not crispy skin at all but crumbed!

My favourite place to eat in Glebe. When I first moved to the suburb a few years back, I was skeptical about there being any truly great Vietnamese food in the area. Their vermicelli noodle bowls (bún) are absolutely exceptional – my favourite in Sydney! They're incredibly fresh and fragant with a perfectly balanced nước mắm (fish sauce) dressing, Vietnamese pickles, herbs and vermicelli noodles.

I choose mine with their homemade spring rolls which are also some of the best – in fact my partner visited once and ordered spring rolls to which they said weren't available at that time because the person who makes them was overseas in Vietnam – now we know they're committed to making them right!

Their crispy chicken option is also excellent and is more like fried chicken than crispy skin chicken.

Their beef phở is good and reliable. Not the best I've had but is still delicious and reliable when the cravings hit! I love how they add onions and...
