Lost us as customers for a 20 cents takeaway plastic box. 5 stars for the food no doubt. Service and the way the lady serving on Friday 07 Dec around 830 PM treated us was one star. Pride is more important than a full stomach so overall 2 stars. If you want full details, keep reading. We've been loyal customers to the place for the last 4 years, once or twice a week, since the place was called Green Pepper. Great people working there. Few months ago, change of ownership and change of menu. Good food no doubt about that. Last night i've invited another couple to have dinner together. Time to pay, i go to the counter, 60 + dollars bill for 4 people, I pay by card. At the end I ask for a take away box. I'm told it's 20 cents (although i never used to pay for a plastic box for take away food before). Had no 20 cents with me so i ask the lady to charge my credit card again. She said no. Ok, i understand, bank fee probably more than 20 cents. I say to the lady, I'll come tomorrow and bring the 20 cents (almost wanted to say we leave $ 2 tips in the jar every once in a while). Thai lady told me "the owner said 20 cents, no box if not pay 20 cents". I try to reason with her by telling: "look, we were loyal customers for 4 years" ( including few months with the new management). I honestly gonna bring you the 20 cents tomorrow". She says no 20 cents no box, owner said so. Even tried the final argument by letting her know we'll stop coming to the place because we are mistreated. She goes on: "sorry, no 20 cents no box." At that point I'm completely flabergasted on how she was not willing to offer me a plastic box and i stopped, her english level was not great so i didnt try any more arguments, her final " sorry no box if not pay, owner said". I totally understand that the plastic box needed to be paid. No idea if it was written in the menu. Maybe there is somewhere. Lady didnt communicate to us anything like " look guys, we'll start charging 20 cents for take away boxes, just letting you know in advance" - maybe too much to ask. However, i was more than willing to being the 20 cents on another day. If the lady was lying and onwership never agreed to losing loyal customers for a delayed payment of 20 cents, so be it. If the ownership really enforced the "no 20 cents pay no box" indiscriminately, no matter how much you paid for the bill or how loyal you've been as a customer, wishing them all the best :-). Just curious how long they will last in the business. Doy thai thai is just across the street. Let me know when you're willing to offer a plastic take away box on my promise I'm going to bring the 20 cents at a later time, and i may reconsider. All the best, but such an unfortunate approach to treating...
Read moreIn one word shocking. Went for lunch with my 1 year old son and my friend. She kindly let the owner know we were taking a table as I used the side entry with the pram. We sat down and I started to feed my son. We were left there and ignored for no less than 10m - which is not a problem for us. In the meantime my friend asked where was the toilet. The owner clearly looked annoyed and she sent my friend outside where apparently the toilet is. It was so filthy that my friend even refused to walk into this "green door" as it was explained to her. At that point we grabbed someone attention as the owner and the staff were looking at us but ignoring us for no reason. The owner came closer to our table to tell us we had to order at the counter, while everyone else had their order taken at the table. After hearing that we left. I personally went to try to talk to the owner because last month during a lunch with my wife she showed the same arrogance and she was rude when I was simply asking about a topping on a dish. I literally said - This is the second time you're treating me like this for no reason. Her answer was - Thank you, go somewhere else. In my 34 years I rarely came across such a unwelcoming and rude restaurant owner. Unfortunately I can't share any comment about the food, because me, my friend and my 1 year old son were not served any. This is the customer service and experience this restuarant...
Read moreAwful experience last night. Extremely rude staff. No manners how to talk to customers. We've been coming to this place for a very long time and always had a great experience. Until last night. We came for an early dinner and were ignored for about 20min. There was no staff, except one woman who was extremely rude. She yelled at me when I asked to turn the heater on and move to a table closer to the heater (it was a very cold night and the room was freezing), she yelled when we asked to clean the table and take our order. I was shocked by such rudeness towards customers. There were no other customers, the place was empty although she claimed she was busy and the only one working. I can certainly understand the current challenges with staff shortage in hospitality, however this should not be a reason for being rude to customers. It's not a customer fault. We came in to spend money and deserved a decent service. Awful experience and a very bad customer service. Shame on you, Earth Thai. You should do better, otherwise you will have no customers and won't survive as many other places don't. We left and won't be back. We went to Thai Pottong where I know we always get a top class service. You lost regular customers Earth Thai. But that woman (whoever she was a manager or owner) did not even care. Awful service. I would not recommend this...
