This review will be very long but believe me it's worth reading it all... what happened to me yesterday in this restaurant is really something that is hard to believe... let me start by saying that I am an Italian chef who has traveled the world and celebrated his birthday in January first 16 years of working in the kitchen of which the last 8 as executive chef around Italy and the world!! I make this premise because yesterday in this restaurant they tried to scam me but they got the wrong person to do it to.. by at 8pm and 10pm, the restaurant closes at 9pm, instead of saying goodbye to me the first word that is said to me is, we are closing, if you can order in 5 minutes however we can make food for you, I say ok and while I am still standing order a Rib-eye with fries and peppercorn sauce plus a bottle of pinot noir because my second passion in life is wine!!..my steak arrives after 20 minutes, it is literally thrown on the table and the waitress disappears in a second !!I remain alone in the room and obviously I realize that what they brought me is not a 300g rib eye because it has no bone, but a simple 200g steak...but I ordered and paid for a rib eye which costs 25 dollars more than that tiny steak!! I point this out to a guy who works there who replies that he would have notified the manager then says goodbye and leaves the restaurant... I wait 10 minutes and finally after consulting with the chef the manager arrives at my table, I point this out to her too and she simply says she's sorry!!! ok I say, but I paid 25 dollars more than I should have paid, how do we do it?..them I propose to offer me a bottle of red wine and we would be fine, she replies that she can't...well I tell her, then give me my 25 dollar difference back!! and she replies that she can't do that either.. that is, they defrauded me or tried to do so and they tell me that perhaps and I repeat perhaps they could have given me a 25 dollar discount if I had come back another day to eat at their place... I reply that this is one of the most terrible situations that I have I have ever seen in a restaurant and believe me, in addition to working there, I could have eaten in 1000 different restaurants around the world!! Then I approach the chef and ask if he is able to recognize a rib eye from a simple steak... and he he replies to me that it is not his fault but that of his supplier who every now and then delivers rib eye without the bone!! after this funny answer I tell him that this thing is impossible simply because a rib eye without the rib eye is not a rib eye... greetings and I'm leaving!! be careful not to get scammed by...
Read moreAs a family of five and regulars at R&B Grill House in Gregory Hills, we were excited for our dinner tonight but left disappointed by the new QR code ordering system. While we understand the push for technology, the implementation and execution is not impressive.
Upon arrival, we were informed that all orders now had to be placed via a QR code, and there would be no table service available unless we needed assistance. Unfortunately, the app took ages to load, and we found ourselves unable to make necessary modifications to our meals. After struggling for approximately 15 minutes, the app crashed twice, leading to frustration.
Thankfully, Aaron came to our rescue, taking our order the traditional way and accommodating our customisation requests. His attentive service truly saved the evening. We appreciate the personal touch he brings, engaging with our children and making us all feel welcomed each and every time we attend R&B Grill House.
We’ve always chosen R&B Grill House at Gregory Hills for its friendly atmosphere and exceptional food. The shift to QR code ordering feels like a step backward, stripping away the valuable human interaction that makes dining out enjoyable for us. We dine out to escape technology, and using our phones to order detracts from the experience.
We also encourage our kids to interact with staff, building their confidence and social skills. If this new system continues, we might reconsider our visits. While we value innovation, we believe that nothing beats the friendliness of face to face communication in a dining setting. We hope R&B Grill House reconsiders this approach to preserve the personal service that keeps us...
Read moreCame here the other day for lunch, as we were looking for something new to try and as it was local to us and we generally like places like this, we thought we would give it a go.
We got here around 230pm, which I guess was late for lunch but there was still a few people in there, we asked if they were still serving lunch and they said "yes, we are open for food till late that night". So there were roughly 3 tables taken with customers and about 15 tables free, they asked us to wait, so they could clean a table for us. We waited a few minutes and still they were not cleaning any tables so we just walked to a booth and then they came over and asked us to wait so they could clean it. They did not clean it well as there was still tomato sauce on the table which we cleaned ourselves.
The menu looked good with plenty of options. We ordered the hot chips, grilled chicken bowl and grilled salmon skewers with a side salard.
It took a while for the young girl to take our order. They seemed pretty busy serving a large table which looked to be their friends or someone that worked in the restaurant.
Once our food came out, we both rushed into it as we were pretty hungry. The grilled chicken bowl.... well the chicken was barely warm and the rest of the salard bowl was nice. My partners salmon skewers were cold and clearly frozen salmon. But tasted nice. The salard she ordered was nice but had some lettice that looked off. The hot chips were the best part, but its not hard to get them right.
We left alot of our lunch and quickly left stating the meals were ok.
Overall we will come back to try some other items on the menu and maybe at night...
