Have Updated my review (April 2024) after returning and dining in
Second experience: Food was very good (dining in)
Just go there and eat at the establishment, rather than delivery.
This time we had:
1 x Prawn Tom Yum Soup @19.90 - Excellent, heaps of prawns, great aromas and flavours . Beautiful! This was a really brilliant Tom Yum. VERY YUMMY!
1 x Laksa Noodle Soup. A quality laksa. Very tasty.$19.00 You can select the protein of your choice
1 x Massaman Beef and Roti. The dearest of the 3 @$24.90 Was okay. Beef very tender. Good size serving. However not as exciting compared to the Laksa and Tom Yom soups. Still found it lacked some flavour. Recommended for diners that are not into spicy food.
Started with curry puffs $13.90 (4 x pieces) and fish cakes $12.90 x (4 pieces) Very Happy with both . Fish cakes were delicious.
Not licensed, but you can BYO for a small surcharge. They do close early (9pm) and they ask you to start packing your bags @ 8.45pm.
............................................................................................. This was my previous review Jan/Feb 2024 for a delivered meal with an UBER special deal. Moral of the story, "you get what you pay for"
Our food certainly did not relate to the other 19 x Five star reviews. We ordered online and food was delivered via Uber in approx 13 -15 min? Insanely fast. Cannot complain about this. (BTW it was a cheaper option than going to collect ourselves and most likely hotter via Uber Eats scooter rider, than me walking to collect)
A: Star of the show, the Seafood Spring rolls. These were good. Crispy and tasty. No complaints.
B: Beef Massaman Curry + Roti. Only 2 x stars. Beef was tough, in fact... very tough. Also lacked flavor. One of the less memorable Massamans I have experienced in the area.
C: Classic Chicken Hokkien Noodle. Only 2.5 stars (This was an Uber promo, 2 for the price of 1). Should have described it as a: Classic Hokkien Noodle. We struggled to find the chicken. What was included appeared to be chook offcuts and scraps. Flavors slightly better than the Beef, but still on the bland side.
This was confirmed when someone arrived home (20 minutes later) to finish of the leftovers. First comment made without me saying anything, "the food is tasteless." Somewhat different experience to Bangkok street food
I will give them another go in 6-8 weeks and see if they step up. But currently there are much better...
Read moreFantastic, fresh, flavourful (large portioned!) Thai in the heart of Randwick 🎉😋
💖 Stand out dishes: Crispy pork (prik khing moo grob) and roasted duck pad see yew. Very personable service, and flexible with dish customisation. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, whose fave dish is the Crispy pork chilli basil. It boasts strong, punchy flavours and the floral aroma of chilli without being brain-numbingly hot. He enjoys this dish with white rice and fried egg. He happily reminiscences about Nasi goreng, a food staple he often enjoyed during his uni days, which sparked his passion to open his first venture, Bangkok Bowl in Newtown.
🙏🏼😁 Us Randwick locals now get to enjoy the delicious fruits (read: bowls!) of his rice and noodle mastery, with his refined offering of Thai cuisine on Belmore Road. His primary focus is to celebrate the very freshest Thai rice and noodle dishes we all know, love and can't get enough of!!🤤🍲🥣
👌 Every dish served by our smiling waitress is extremely generous, fresh, tender, and flavourful. We enjoyed large portions of roasted duck in the pad see yew, prik khing moo grob (succulent pork belly wok-fried to perfection with fragrant prik khing sauce), signature special duck breast stir fry (huge serving of thick duck breast!), tangy spicy tom yum fried rice with large, juicy prawns, and well-balanced Thai fried rice with loads of lean chicken breast and a wedge of lemon for some pizzazz. And let's not forget the seafood spring rolls, do not skip these crispy beauties!!😍
🧋 Also enjoyed a very well made Thai milk tea and green tea (both not too sweet and their flavour was balanced and paired perfectly with the complexity of Thai dishes). They pride themselves on making all tea fresh on site, so no pre-mixes or nasty powders in this shop!
💛 Warm, friendly, efficient service with a smile. The team at Rice and Noodle Randwick clearly value high quality ingredients, freshness, flavour and friendly customer service. Thank you for the fantastic Thai grub! Highly recommend and I wish the owner continued success with their...
Read moreWe came to this Thai restaurant looking forward to a good meal, but unfortunately, we didn’t even stay long enough to order. The waitress (a lady) was incredibly rude from the moment we walked in. She was dismissive, unwelcoming, and seemed annoyed by our presence for no reason.
Her attitude was so unpleasant that we decided to leave rather than spend our time and money in a place that clearly doesn’t value its customers. Very disappointing experience. We won’t be coming back, and I hope the management seriously considers how their staff...
