FOOD: Coffee is good and the complimentary small cookie is a nice touch. I highly recommend their Vietnamese iced coffee - the salted cream froth gives it a twist that savoury tooths will appreciate. I plan on making this a staple over the summer.
They also recently introduced a much more extensive sandwich menu (previously limited to two choices). I highly recommend the grilled chicken Bahn mi - the pate really makes the dish pop.
I’ve previously recommended their mixed berry muffins for being absolutely packed with berries, but they (presumably?) changed the recipe a few months ago, and it’s no longer as moist as it used to be.
SERVICE: Staff are polite, but not overly chatty or keen to get stuck into a conversation with regulars - which is a good or a bad thing, depending on your perspective and appetite for privacy/anonymity. I’ve found that Ben (co-owner) is always very accommodating and willing to tweak dishes/substitute components on request. The customer service (from one particular staff member) has significantly improved since my original review, so i am updating my original (critical) review accordingly. Credit to management who reached out to me and have presumably spoke to/coached this staff member.
ATMOSPHERE:
As someone else mentioned, the cafe layout can create bottlenecks at the door, and some signage or polite instruction from the cashier (eg please wait for your takeaway order outside) could alleviate this. On a few occasions, I’ve had to (politely) ask people waiting to collect their coffees to move, and this shouldn’t come down to me.
Suitable for remote workers, since there is AC, WIFI, music is not unbearably loud, and it's usually quiet enough (on weekdays, earlier in the week) to get work done.
Overall, I’d recommend this cafe if you are looking for a spot with consistently good coffee and good food and a peaceful atmosphere (on...
Read moreMe and my friend have visited Eggshellent cafe because of its attractive appearance, but totally REGRET and will definitely not come back again!!
Let me give you guys a quick review why we were so disappointed…
-Unskilled waitresses, always serve the order to the wrong tables, not only our table but the tables around as well!! They mixed up the orders and took ours and another table's to serve to a wrong table who just came in after us and the table behind but got to eat first — which mean the waiting time will be longer as well…
-Space was over used, too packed, and over crowded, thus, only 2 chefs and 2 waitresses couldn't run the food in appropriate timing, especially when the staffs are lacking of service skills and have extremely bad memorize.
-It took almost 1 hour waiting for the foods which were just Scrambled Egg on Sourdough and Corn Fritter with Bacon and poached eggs. May be it took long time because it was OVERCOOKED until BURNT. -After have been waiting for almost one hour these were what we got; overcooked bacon with corn fritter and egg shell in the scrambled eggs.
-Our coffees were a bit too bitter and too frothy (almost 2 inches froth for flat white!?)
-We heard from a lady who sit next to us complaining about her toast as well that it was toasted only one side.
Nothing we could give this cafe more than one star. Overall, we thought that the price is over charged regarding the extremely low quality of foods and services. (approx....
Read more3 times striked out. It started ok, coffee is ok but not as claimed (the best). But I thought their believe in their coffee quality is cute so we started coming here on a regular basis. Then quality started dropping, sometime too hot and then they think its ok to serve the coffee about 2cm off the rim? I gave them a few chances, thought they are busy and the milk estimation is off (it happens, I used to work as a barista). Then it became a thing, none of my soy caps are fill properly (oh dont get be started when I bought in my own cup, its a disgrace ). Today was the last draw, same story about the coffee then screwed up my chicken wrap. No apology, then cut corner to not toast the wrap. And the chicken is undercooked in the centre, thank god I noticed it. If you want to be as good as you claim Eggshellent,
Stop skimming your customers, the $10 you save on soy milk will not do you any favour Stop cutting corners, prep your dish properly Cook your...
