Yo I hate givin out a bad review man, shame cos on the menu that looked like it was gonna be party town but no bruv it was the pain train. Ordered the Dal Tadka and also ordered their "Shahi Rice Platter". Yo man, that Dal Tadka ain't it, the chef, I swear on Buddha bro, was throwing lentils in warm water and a bit of spice and pepper, seasoning it with tears of disappointment and putting it in a plastic container sealed with rage. Legit I open the rice and that was the best part of the meal man, even then it was a bit oily and seasoned with crisped up half-shredded flakes of leaves that were begging to be put to rest - but hol' up the beast was yet to be unleashed son. The meats, god knows what the hell they were man, flavour was there, but it was that sort of 'AAAAAHAHAAH' flavour where yo mind asking what it is, but not in the good way. This wasn't flavour town, this was flavour bronx where yo money son. Shame. Legit watery lentils and meats that be burned to the stars of times long past man, and this food gave me sickness I ain't felt in years, made me ill bruv. This type of food supposed to be healing the soul man but this downright condemned my soul to the burning pits of Hades. I love you guys for trying but fix it up man, even that Rumali roti was slumped over like a defeated warrior resigned to it's fate. I'm sure it gets better but bruv please dont order here if you love yourself.

Okay!! This is now our go to place for a few reasons - 1. Stays open till 1am 2. The Food I go there to have their romali roti with tala hua gosh and I don't know why but that reminds me of home!!! Also the mixed kabab plate is amazing. Then one day we tried their shahi rice platter. And loved it!! Enough for two. The price is worth every penny. I had a complain about their green sauce. I told them and guess what yesterday I took one extra sauce because they took my feedback and worked on it!!!!! The sauce is now thicker and yummy. I have a request to them - please keep the consistency going. 🙏 Update : went there today(24th June 2022) loved the food n I am glad they still have the consistency but hated the green sauce again!! 😅

Our first experience of Shahi Dastarkhwan food was at the Lakemba Night Markets for Ramadan in late April. The malai chicken + chicken 65 wrapped in soft rumali roti was such a standout that we came back recently to try more from their menu offerings. We found the mutton biryani on point 👌 delicious. We asked for mild, and so they adjusted it with less masala especially for us. The rumali roti was just as fresh, soft and tasty as we remembered. However the tandoori chicken was a bit dry. We didn't realise the wraps from the night market is a permanent menu item (it's not on the menu but there is a little paper sign at their front desk, we saw later). We'll come back again for the wraps and also biryani.

"I recently had the pleasure of trying multiple dishes from this amazing kitchen — and every single item exceeded my expectations!"

Mutton Masala: “The Mutton Masala was absolutely phenomenal! The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and soaked in a rich, flavorful gravy full of traditional spices. The aroma alone made my mouth water, and every bite delivered a perfect balance of heat, depth, and authenticity. You could feel the love and passion in the preparation — easily one of the best mutton curries I’ve tasted in Sydney!”

Biryani: “And then came the biryani — WOW! This was next-level. The rice was perfectly cooked, each grain separate and infused with real spices. The meat was juicy, well-marinated, and layered beautifully within the rice. It had that traditional dum-style essence which is so hard to find these days. Served with raita and salan, it was a complete feast. Honestly, if you’re a biryani lover, this place is a dream come true.”

Chinese Dishes: “Surprisingly, even the Chinese dishes were top-notch! The fried rice was loaded with veggies and meat, perfectly balanced in flavor without being oily. The Manchurian had the ideal texture — crispy on the outside, soft inside — smothered in a bold, tangy sauce that was just the right amount of spicy. The noodles were fresh and flavorful, cooked to perfection with the right wok taste. You can tell the chef knows what they're doing!”

Overall: “This place is a hidden gem. Whether you're craving rich, traditional Indian flavors or well-crafted Chinese dishes, they’ve nailed it. Quality, quantity, and taste — 10/10. Highly...

1- Worst Customer Service by the dude that serving outside. I understand, you pay for food here, not service. I don’t expect service anyway, I am not paying a Rock Pool money so no service, I get it. But still the guy serving outside needs to learn some Manner. Very poor and below standard, please do not serve customer with this manner, if you can not handle pressure, please take a break, you are ruining the reputation. I am not the only one, we are on the queue, noticed his Rude behavior with others!! 2- Greasy Oily, Unhealthy food. Chicken and beef is soaked with oil. Absolutely unhealthy. 3- Positives: It tastes good, I admit, it tastes really good. Specially freshly baked Rumali Roti with Bangladeshi Style (usualy served at Sadia’s Kitchen) Mayonise went well with Chicken...
