We have just left Shandar in freshwater after the worst costumer service I have ever encountered. Firstly we waiting 30 minutes for a glass wine which we were charged double for on the bill. We then waited 1 hour and 20 mins for the starters. This is not the waitress's fault she was very busy but the owner stood behind the counter watching the waitress and not helping her. The owner continued to take take away orders by phone obviously putting stress on a already busy kitchen. 30 minutes after finishing our starters our plates had not been cleared and it was aparent we were not getting our mains we asked the owner how long it would be, she replied "soon" no apologies. The main eventually arrived. Without a naan bread and 1 dish was wrong. We asked for the naan bread and it arrived when we had a finished eating. We had orginally ordered a set meal which included deserts but as we had been in the resturant for 2.5 hours we decided to ask if we could leave the deserts and get the bill. When we got the bill we noticed the extra and naan which arrived too late was on the bill, extra wine and we were charged the same for the set menu as if we had eaten deserts. We querred this with the owner. Instead of being apoligetic she was extremely rude and argumentative she said we must pay the full amount. We added up the cost of the food and drink we had actually eaten and paid for it. This was 20 dollars less and we felt we were being more than generous considering our wait. As we left the owner/manageress of the resturant stopped us and shouted us in front of a very busy resturant. She insisted we pay the rest ( for food we had not eaten?) She went on to tell us not to go back again. As we left 2 other tables commented they had also been waiting 2 hours. This is the worst costumer service and not at all a way to keep customers in a small village like freshwater. The mangeress is letting down a good chef and hard working waitresses. She has an...
Read moreHome delivery service so disappointing. We've been ordering from here for over 15 years and have watched the slow decline. Over recent months they've made mistakes with our orders. First they forgot one dish ordered, when I rang they said they'd credit me which they didn't. Same thing happened again a second time. Then last night they sent beef vindaloo instead of the Kashmiri beef we ordered - a completely different dish. Vindaloo is hot, Kashmiri has fruit in it and is a far nicer dish. So I ring and hear much discussion amongst themselves, then the person on the phone comes back saying "that is Kashmiri you have". It was not, as I've eaten that dish probably 100 times and that is definitely not the right dish. The person was insistent, then said "well you want to eat now or wait, it'll take us a long time to send a Kashmiri to you". Wow. The restaurant is less than 5 minutes from our home and they have many drivers and those dishes take no time to throw together in their kitchen. The hubris. Proper answer would be something like 'sorry about our mistake, thanks for letting us know, what would you like us to do?'. Not treat me like an imbecile that doesn't know Kashmiri from Vindaloo. They've gone up in price over the years and are now premium compared to all the many other good Indian options that service the Northern Beaches area. Being busy is no excuse to being condescending to your customers. Consider me an...
Read moreShandar Tandoori has great quality food however their service this evening was terrible. We ordered via Ubereats and after waiting 1 hr and 15 minutes (initial expected delivery time was 30 - 45 minutes) our order was cancelled by the uber driver. With no information from Uber, we called the restaurant to try understand the issue. The manager was immediately defensive and effectively repeated multiple times that it's not their problem as they provided the meal to uber and uber didn't deliver.. We understand that challenges sometimes do arise but there was no support or any level of sympathy from the restaurant. Uber didn't have a contact number as the order was cancelled. We asked to speak with the manager and she claimed she was the manager. After contacting Uber support, we received an automated message requested us to "re-order if we'd like" as a response and nothing more. I love supporting local businesses that do the right thing by their customers but unfortunately this won't be one of those I support moving forward. Plenty of good indian restaurants around the beaches that provide quality food and a...
