This is our third time in this place. The food is mediocre at best. The dry aged steaks are what sells the most in this place. Regardless, what is the worst about the food is the excessive amount of salt they put in their food. It’s great that they draw out the flavours but their QC is not really there to make sure we don’t receive a salty pasta or really salty steak. The service is okay, however the staff unsure of whether items are included in steaks when it clearly states in the menu shows that they have been trained incorrectly. Their SOP requires updates to reduce their defects and costs to quality. For example, all their steaks come with either a side of chips and salad or mashed potatoes and greens. However their 28 dry aged steaks doesn’t this which makes us wonder why. Two of their wait staff assumed and had contradictory answers. One said it came with sides and the other said it didn’t with unsatisfactory confidence. The atmosphere is decent for a pub, however it’s quite loud for music since it overpowers every one making it even more louder. It’s not ideal for family bistro dining. I will be coming again in the future hoping that it has become better, and it’s more consistent in their quality.

Since moving to the area 4 years ago, we were always on the look out for a decent steak. Silverwater Hotel was formerly known as Dooleys and have since changed. Their main restaurant at the time was our go-to. My hubby and I had visited a few times after the change of hands and had a few failed dinners (to the point of needing to send the food back, which I rarely do). When you're paying upwards of $45 for steak, I think it's only fair that it's cooked as requested. Last weekend we dropped in again. Kitchen and floor staff were new! Incredibly welcoming and attentive. The restaurant was buzzing with young families. My steak was delicious and well seasoned, albeit slightly overcooked. Haloumi bites recommended. Lightly battered and not oily.

On Saturday, 20/9/25 my friend and I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Burger for dinner. After a few bites, my friend discovered his chicken was raw (see attached photo). He returned it to the counter, and was offered a replacement burger, however he requested a chicken schnitzel, which oddly arrived in under three minutes. He didn’t want to make a fuss, so he just ate it and stated it did not taste newly cooked or fresh. My burger didn’t taste great, but at least wasn’t as raw as my friends. Unfortunately, since that night I’ve suffered food poisoning, bad enough to require a doctor’s visit. The chicken was clearly undercooked and unsafe to serve. This was not only disappointing, but easily the worst pub meal I’ve ever had.

Flawless 50th Birthday Celebration - Highly Recommended Venue!

We recently had the immense pleasure of hosting my husband's 50th birthday party at this venue, and I honestly couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. From start to finish, the entire experience was incredibly smooth, successful, and truly memorable.

Right from the initial inquiry, communication with the team was absolutely fantastic. They were responsive, helpful, and ensured we felt well-informed and supported throughout the entire planning process, which made organising the event stress-free. We also felt it offered exceptional value for money for everything that was included.

The venue itself was absolutely perfect for our celebration. The event space was beautifully well-lit, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that our guests immediately commented on. There was ample room for everyone to comfortably either sit down and relax or stand around and mingle, ensuring no one felt cramped and allowing for a great flow of conversation and interaction.

A standout feature that truly elevated the party was the dedicated bar located right within our room. This was an absolute hit with all our guests and made such a significant difference on the day. Drinks were served promptly and efficiently, completely removing the need for anyone to queue at the main bar with other patrons. This ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone, keeping the party's momentum going strong.

And the food! It was absolutely delicious. Our guests couldn't get enough of it, with barely anything left at the end of the day – a true testament to its quality and taste and awesome value.

Beyond the fantastic amenities, the staff were truly incredible. They were attentive, professional, and went above and beyond, keeping us regularly updated throughout the entire day. Their proactive approach ensured everything ran like clockwork, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy the celebration.

Our 50th birthday celebration was everything we hoped for and more, largely thanks to the outstanding service and facilities provided by this venue. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend this venue to anyone looking for a great place to hold their special event. If you want a smooth process, great value, and an unforgettable experience, look no further!

Special thanks to Hanna and Sonia - you were truly wonderful, so thank you ladies!!

Take two, we returned for another try and were happy this time. It was not a special event so we did not have a repeat of our last experience. The food and service was good. It's a busy hotel without a doubt. The live singer was great, meals came in a good time and the place does have atmosphere.

What a disaster for fathers day. Booked a table in dining room for 1:30, told on arrival it was a 45min wait for food. At that point, we made a choice to stay. Was seated at a high table in bar area. Not good for elder parent legs hanging down. Bar staff couldn't focus and filled jug of softdrink with wrong flavour. Table in bar area was swamped by queues of people waiting for drink service. Music was so loud we felt like we were screaming at each other to just talk. Found a shorter table outside and moved, things started to improve...(how wrong could we be). After waiting an hour (2:40 now)we went to see how much longer, told it shouldn't be too much longer, sorry for the wait. At 3pm we enquired again to be told should be 15mins. Food was ready by 3:20. Meatballs were cold, garlic bread was cold, other meals were ok. Had we have been informed, kitchen is overwhelmed, could take 1 hour + to get food we would have decided to go elsewhere. You took away my right to choose to make the most of fathers day. Taking nearly 2 hours was unexpected and now we choose to NEVER return and part with our money at Silverwater Hotel. You are not capable of meeting demand. Some suggestions for large events: don't take bookings for more than you can handle on busy days, try a limited special menu to help your kitchen get meals out in a reasonable time. Good luck on your Melbourne cup day coming up, you need special help.

Reading other reviews from today, I wonder where Bryce was for the rest of the patrons also there for fathers day. Glad to hear someone got...

We visited Silverwater Hotel while in Sydney for the Lions tour, having flown in from London. A local friend—who’s a regular and was genuinely excited to bring us there—recommended it as one of his favourite spots. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing due to the behaviour of the manager, Anna. On our first visit (Thursday), she was unnecessarily rude and dismissive while we were ordering drinks. At one point, she refused to give me a glass of wine I had already paid for, claiming there were “too many drinks” on our table. We were calm, respectful, and not causing any issues—so this treatment was completely uncalled for.

We decided to give the venue another shot on Saturday before the rugby match, but regrettably, Anna was managing again. This time, she instructed the staff that we were only allowed one drink each, and the team continually monitored our table as if we were doing something wrong. It felt targeted, disrespectful, and needlessly hostile.

It’s a real shame, because the venue itself seemed like it had potential and our friend had nothing but good things to say prior to our visit. But the attitude and behaviour of the manager made us feel unwelcome and singled out.

We won’t be returning—and I’d suggest that other visitors, especially those from out of town, consider other options where they’ll be treated with basic courtesy and respect.

We did speak to Michelle about what had happened and she was very apologetic about what had happened but it was to late by then but wanted to mention her name as she tried to make our stay...
