SOLAR CAFE — Restaurant in Sydney

It was a disappointment, full stop. As a Coogee locals, I went to Solar Cafe because I thought I should give it ago after seeing the 5 stars reviews on Google but ended up walking out with a great disappointment. I ordered and paid for my turmeric latte with almond milk and thought for the price it’ll come in a regular size cup but instead it came in the small(est) latte glass for a powder turmeric (not a home made) latte. Went through their menu and again with a high hope due to their high reviews but feeling rather disappointed with the (lack of) food options, nothing really grabs me and I looked at other customer’s plates and it doesn’t look that appetizing with a small portion and it’s pretty pricey. Similar price as other cafes in Coogee with water view? You joking. Service was also a disappointment and cold and it ended even worse for me… as I was about to leave, the lady with curly hair grabbed me said that I haven’t paid for my latte. She asked me to come back to the counter and pay. I looked at the younger one at the counter who took my payment when I came in and I reminded her that I’ve paid and she confirmed it that yes I’ve paid. What the? The ambience is also pretty bad. The place is so small and HOT.

I’ve already quite generous in giving them 2 stars.

Anyhow, do better guys and another advice, out of respect to your customers, do speak in English when you’re talking about your customer’s order or seating when they’re there in front of you. Don’t speak in Portuguese as if we’re...

I had a very disappointing experience at this cafe today. Excited to try the vegan Coxinha and Pão de Queijo I asked the workers behind the counter if the vegan cheese has nuts in it (as I have an allergy) and they said they didn’t know. I asked if they could check and they said they couldn’t as they don’t make it on site. Surely the packaging the cheese comes in has the ingredients on it? Nut allergies are not uncommon and should always be considered in the food industry. At the very least, if you don’t know the ingredients of the food you’re selling, you shouldn’t be selling it. They just repeated they didn’t know and didn’t make any effort to find out. So I settled for the $18 Solar Bowl which was mostly just baby spinach and not very satisfying - I thought it was way overpriced for what it was. The dressing that came in the ramekin was only a quarter full so my friend and I asked if we could get more, which the cafe worker said yes to, and then she just never came back. Despite all the 5 star reviews, I cannot recommend this cafe based on my experience. I hope more care and consideration will be taken around food allergies...

Friendliest staff ever, really delicious food and excellent coffee. A few Brazilian themed items on the menu which was so nice 😋 Pao de queijo, Pao na chapa, açaí, Requeijao. I had the Solar Benny that was served on Pao de queijo and with requeijao on top, and that was very satisfying and really delicious! Kids waffles were great, açaí bowl was also very good.
