Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures today as by the time my food arrived I was starving.

Cafe De France unfortunately gets 3 stars for a pretty poor showing. The food was gorgeous. The menu even tells you the speciality is a wait.

But we waited 40 minutes without a coffee. And then when it did arrive it was missing an ingredient that was ordered extra. After mentioning to the waitress the chef sent a fried egg out. The sandwich was already finished.

To round it off the server stated the egg wouldn't be added to the bill. It was. Overall it was just disappointing. The food was absolutely lovely. But the service and wait times were absurd. I don't mind waiting for the speciality. But don't make me wait 40 minutes for a coffee too despite my partner asking for them twice.

I think I will go back to try the place again. The food was that good. Despite items missing which would have probably made it unbelievably tasty.

Partner had the breakfast crepe which was lovely too. Just annoyed at the service and...

If you want tasty food with the potential risk of hair in it and are willing to wait for it longer than you could possibly imagine, this is the place.

We came here for a simple breakfast, but we had to remind the waitresses over and over again about our orders. With 3 cappuccino ordered, we got two of them after 2 reminders, the last one came on the 4th reminder long after (30 mins)

We got our ordered food after a while. Well, one of us was still waiting. Even after all of us finished eating we were still waiting. There was hair in my omelet... 30 minutes later and after 5 reminders about the simple croassaint we gave up and demanded it as take away instead.

I don't know if they just had a bad day at the place but I for sure am never going back...

Have often been here for brunch and the food is always fantastic, my favourite is the mushrooms on schiacciatta with the amazing porcini mayo/sauce. We tried dinner for the first time and had the delicious steak frites, the miso butter is a wonderful addition, highly recommend!

Update July 2025: We've just been back for the $50 3 course set menu, with our newborn baby. The waitress was lovely and we felt so comfortable, no one got annoyed when our bub made a bit of noise. The kitchen staff were very accommodating and we think it's great deal for $50 (raddicchio, blue cheese and pear salad, steak frites and crepes Suzette) Lovely place, nice atmosphere on a cold winter's night and...

I really wanted to like Cafe Rafaele. It's in a great location and other reviews were good. Unfortunately, after waiting for over 20 minutes for someone to take my food order, I decided to pay for my orange juice (small glass, mostly ice, $9) and leave. The restaurant was busy but not overly so. I'm guessing that with only one lovely, but completely overwhelmed waitress having to take orders, deliver the food from the kitchen, clean tables, and take payment too, delays like this are inevitable. I'm disappointed I didn't get to taste the food. Maybe I'll be back and bring my own snacks while I wait.
