4.3/5*
-To start, the chargrilled octopus was cooked perfectly, boiled first to give it a nice soft, tender texture. It was marinated and cooked with Nduja honey, served on a bed of potato purée and topped off with fresh oregano. The light char on the octopus went perfect with the creaminess of the purée.
-The zucchini flowers were filled with pecorino, honey and mint. They were fried well with a crispy texture. The filling was creamy and light, not too sweet, not too minty, perfect.
-The black opal 7+ marbled wagyu flank steak was cooked to a perfect rare, as ordered. It was fatty but firm in texture, with a brown crust which could have been further darkened and crusted. It was served on a smoked carrot puree which added a nice sweet touch. It was topped with chimichurri, which added a nice fresh component and subtle hit of spice.
-The eggplant parmigiana had a rich tomatoey taste which complimented the sweet eggplant well. It was topped with fresh basil and intertwined with crispy breadcrumbs. Topped with Parmesan, it had a nice addition of aged cheesiness.
-On the side, the leafy greens with garlic were a perfect side, a slight bitterness with a strong hit of garlic, perfect with a mouthful of steak.
Overall, it was a delicious display of food from Louie, with great service and atmosphere, the only small issue was the crust on the steak, which could be improved....

I've trekked out here twice now - once for the a la carte menu and the other for the set menu - and the food absolutely did not disappoint. I'm actually surprised there are negative reviews about it being bland or lacking flavour as really, it was pretty spot on - I guess it's personal preference 🤷🏻♀️.
I love starting off with sourdough. At Louie's, it was nice and warm as it came out and the truffle butter was yum! Not as strong with the truffle which is great as there are some people in the group that aren't super keen on truffle who also found it nice and subtle. I ALWAYS have to have a burrata when I pop into an Italian restaurant and it paired really well with the prosciutto and Italian doughnuts.
As for the mains - we went with classic pastas! Very decent size for sharing which was great and packed a whole lot of flavour. They really didn't skimp with the rib-eye and cooked potatoes on the side - meat was tender and flavoured well. I'm not a huge fan of potatoes for a side as it can be bland, but they seasoned it nicely.
After a very filling dinner, dessert came out in the form of a classic tiramisu - we struggled to eat as we were full it but still loved it!
The pictures don't do it justice - the atmosphere is cosy so it's a...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Louie and I can't stop raving about it. As soon as we entered we were greeted with a warm and vibrant hospitality that perfectly captures the essence of beachside Coogee.
The menu is an honest fusion of Italian and Australian flavours. We especially appreciated that our dishes used fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The seafood selection was absolutely divine! We couldn't resist their perfectly cooked prawns and grilled fish, which melted in my mouth with every bite. The pasta dishes were equally impressive, they use real homestyle Italian pasta which is actually getting harder to find.
The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff who made me feel like a valued guest. They were knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations of wine and dish combinations and ensured that every detail was taken care of.
What truly sets Louie restaurant apart though is the atmosphere. With the beachfront, dining here is like a little holiday. If you can, visit during sunset.
Overall the cuisine, vibe and service, Louie lives up to the hype and I'm stoked about this addition to Coogee's offerings. Whether you're a local or a visitor, I highly recommend paying...
