Birthday Brunch Ruined Had looked at other reviews and should have taken better notice. Still suggested Bathers as a place for my son to take me for a birthday brunch as I saw ricotta pancakes on the menu, and since I love them and no one had actually reviewed them I thought I'd take a chance. We were sat at lovely table near the window with that great view. I asked for the ricotta pancakes immediately, as it states on the menu that they take 20 minutes. Waitress tells us they had run out- it was 10.30am. How can you run out of pancakes??? Should have left but decided on something else then -told it had also run out. Ordered a coffee and other food. Then our food took at least 40 minutes to arrive. Our table had the following- Eggs Benedict-seemed like a dry supermarket "muffin" two poached eggs and watery hollandaise sauce some very thick cold salmon. Bathers Roll- minimal amount of tomato relish and rocket (no other sauce) One thin slice of bacon. Mushrooms-very dry- looked like from a tin on a piece of toast plonked in middle of the plate! All meals were only just warm as they'd been left at kitchen shelf while poor waitresses delt with other disgruntled patrons waiting ages for their meals. To top it off acoustics terrible- so loud. All of this cost $75 2 drinks only . At these prices it is plain outrageous. Who is the chef? Is he told to skimp on everything - not even a bit of dressing on plates as can be seen by other's photos. Waitresses good and plentiful. Didn't expect to spend my birthday writing this review, but I have to...
Read moreBreakfast or lunch here overlooking the beach, indoors with the protection from the wind and sun or outdoors if you prefer the breeze. The fit out us beautiful and feels really refined, with the white and timber hues, set tables and welcoming wait staff who check in throughout the dining experience.
I like that the menu is original with unique dishes; creme brûlée for brekkie, wattleseed granola or lobster omelette. I love the citrus cured salmon with thinly sliced beetroot, beetroot horseradish, creme fraiche, and twirls of the salmon with roe. I opted for it on my favourite charcoal toast. This was a super nice meal.
There’s a seafood influenced lunch menu from 12 noon with the likes of lobster and yellow fin tuna, or some mainstream favourites like a cheeseburger. Kids are welcome too, with plenty of options for “nippers”.
Drinks wise, there’s beers, wines and cocktails so you’re all sorted. If you’re there at brunch time, there’s coffee by Seven Miles, and you can dine in or get takeaway by the sea.
The young man serving me was so lovely, friendly and welcoming. I appreciate his...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Bathers at Coogee I recently visited Bathers at Coogee with a reservation, but my experience was deeply disappointing due to poor service. Upon arrival, the main waitress informed me of a strict time limit for my booking, despite the cafe being nearly empty, with roughly 80% of tables unoccupied. This was reiterated when my friends arrived, which felt unnecessary and unwelcoming given the abundance of available seating. The service lacked professionalism and warmth. The waitress’s demeanor was abrupt, and there was no genuine hospitality in her interactions with us. I noticed other customers arriving without reservations were offered their choice of seats and faced no time restrictions, which felt like inconsistent and unfair treatment. The rush to clear us out as soon as we finished further soured the experience, to the point that I barely registered the food. Overall, the rude and unwelcoming service overshadowed any positives. I strongly advise against dining here unless you’re prepared for inconsistent treatment and a lack of basic hospitality. I won’t...
