Went there for the first time today and I cannot believe how people are giving such high reviews.

  1. dining in there doesn't provide a comfortable atmosphere. Too many tables and the restaurant is small. So it leaves the area cramped.

  2. do not TRUST the photos on the menu!!!! First time I'm here and I looked at a full bowl (I had the crab meat tomato soup, my dad had the bun bo hue, my mum had the sugar cane prawn dish I think..... My parents meals were nice, but portions, it's disappointing. Can't believe we were fooled and decieved by the photos on the menu showing A FULL BOWL when we were ONLY GIVEN HALF BOWL WITH LESS PORTIONS!!!! 😡 And my dish... There were no flavours of the crab meat, there were scrambled eggs in soup instead. Tomato soup tasted bland. And vermicelli doesn't suit it. Go to other places and they serve you a FULL BOWL for the SAME PRICE or $2 cheaper, more flavoursome, thicker noodles (almost like udon) and thickened soup. Tomato and crab flavour in too. And they don't give tomato wedges like they do here. Other cons.... a) one sheet of pork meat b) one small 🍤 prawn

  3. service: waitress taking orders wasn't polite. Even though it's busy NONE of the wait staff gave a single customer a "welcoming feeling"

  4. even though written down our orders on the docket, THEY STILL FORGOTTEN ABOUT MY ICED WHITE COFFEE (ca phe sua da).

Advice:. If people still want to try this place, just get the rice dishes. This place is specialised in crispy skin chicken with rice. AVOID ALL NOODLE SOUP DISHES DONT BE FOOLED BY THE PHOTOS ON THE MENU!!!!

notice: for me, I would go the Pho More at Riverwood. (It used to be GIA HOI before now they changed the name and IT'S FULL OF FLAVOURS!!!) Much more comfortable dining atmosphere and spacious. I would still come back to Tai KY Bankstown one day to try the crispy skin chicken with tomato rice, and their beef cubes tomato rice. Only like tomato rice when there's flavour in it. Some Vietnamese restaurants make tomato rice bland. They only rely on the colour that's it. Been to places where they sell tomato rice and it's actually got the flavours in it.

So disappointed with food and service today. ESPECIALLY my dish. Don't ever order a crab meat tomato soup with vermicelli. It's a fake version. One piece of meat and one piece of prawn and one piece of fish ball cut in half and 2 tomato wedges. In a soup with NO FLAVOUR. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!! Don't ever order soup dishes. It's not full like in photos on the menu.

You want a full bowl of noodle soup? Go to Riverwood's Pho More on Belmore Street.

The portions they give in Tai KY is...

You can count on the people here being incredibly rude, cold and unfriendly no matter how nice you are to them.

My husband and I used to go here at least once a week to have lunch as it was close to home.

There’s not too much to mention about other than the staff being cold and unwelcome, not until a day of 3 weeks ago. Two of us went into the restaurant and ordered the same dishes that we always ordered before, I had to repeat they were THE SAME DISHES that we always ordered with literally the same dietary requirements.

I ordered a serving of the combination stirred fried flat noodles, not the gravy one but the dry one. I already knew that inside the dish there would be bean sprouts and chives, and I couldn’t eat them so I asked the staff not to put them in, instead they could add me some choy sum or cabbage it’s up to them.

Every time I went here, I literally ordered exactly the same thing, but this time the girl with the glasses went to me like “Oh I don’t think our chef can do that but let me ask him”, she walked away and came back to me after a couple of minutes and said “We cannot do that”, I said “oh but every time i got the same thing and they were fine with that”, she talked back to me “we could spoil you for only 1 time, we cannot spoil you every single time”. YES YOU HEARD ME RIGHT, she literally said they had spoiled me once and they could’ve not done that again. I was speechless. I paid for what I ordered, I didn’t get it for free, she acted like they were doing the charity work for me by feeding me what I wanted.

To the lady who seemed to be the manager/owner of the restaurant, if you could ever read my review, my husband saw that you were the one who told your staff to say that to me, not the staff herself. If you keep holding on to that attitude, I’m not sure if you can last long in doing businesses.

To anyone who’s thinking of trying out this joint: DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE TREATED WITH SUCH UNBELIEVABLY DISGUSTING ATTITUDE FROM THE OWNER HERSELF...

I went to this restaurant twice today.

We tried a few dishes for lunch and dinner.

I don't usually like chickens but their crispy chickens are really good. The skin is really crispy. Would definitely recommend this dish.

I had the Bun Bo Hue for lunch, it's ok but too sugary and lack some ingredients. But I reckon if they reduce the sugar and add in more lemongrass and maybe 1 or 2 herbs, they could perfect it. I recommend they go and try Gia Hoi at Bankstown and bring it to Flermington.

Tonight, we had the Pho Dac Biet. It's ok too. The bowl was huge with a lot of noodles, not enough of meat but the flavour was ok. Would like to see more meat, less noodles though.

It's a shame that there are no descent restaurants at Flemington offer outstanding food but would love to see this little restaurant to do well by improving a few dishes. I reckon this little restaurant can make it.

Forgot to mention, good service too. So overall it's a 3.5 to 4 star. (The crispy chicken is worth a try, its yummy ).

We will be back and...

Went to this restaurant at the weekend and what transformation. A few months ago, this place was fully booked, and no one was waiting outside. Ordered combination rice, beef noodle with 2 meats, and spring roll. Spring roll - 10 bucks for 5 portions. Look at the portions. So tiny. Lettuce is not even enough to cover for the spring roll. Some other restaurants give more lettuce. Spring roll tastes good, but I prefer big portion. The dissapointed is nuoc cham. Too salty and overall saltiness kill the taste. Combination rice-16 bucks with pork chop, fried egg, pork cake, shredded pork vermicelli. Pork chop - I love the fat that is being rendered. Some parts are juicy, and some parts are hard. Overall, pork chop taste needs more lemon grass. It is lacking the flavour. Pork cake and shredded pork - average. Need more seasoning. Again, Nuoc chaam taste as above. Beef noodle - we choose tendon and beef. The soup is better to compare the one in city.

Nice new cozy Vietnamese restaurant. They serve probably the best pho I have ever had in Sydney. The aromatic soup has rich flavour but still tastes “light”. And it’s really amazing that they use chicken legs for the chicken pho, which definitely gives much better texture! (Most restaurants use chicken breast.) Their crispy chicken is amazing as well!! Really crispy! Also, their food is good value as the portion of everything is big! I tried my best, but I still couldn’t finish a bowl of pho, which doesn’t normally happen.😧 The service was nice as well. The staff was friendly and considerate! Will definitely visit again!! By the way, their eftpos machine was out of order, not sure when it will be available. Better to prepare some cash to make everyone’s life easier. (They do also offer bank transfer as an option.)
