Tatsuya West Ryde — Restaurant in Sydney

Terrible dinner experience !!!!! Dinner of 5 pax ordered and the meals arrived for 3 the other 2 who ordered sushi meals never arrived at all!!!! The 3 finished their meal and still no sushi after reminding twice to the waitress !!! After an hour the couple that arrived after us sitting behind got their prepared sushi roll and we still didn’t get ours!!!! That was after a 1 hour wait!!! What rubbish???? So what only the whites get their sushi so we asians dun get any is that it?? This an Asian restaurant?? You discriminating us Asians?? That we are stupid and can’t see what you are doing??????Must think we blind and dumb ???

Any explanation for this???????? If you can’t cope with the sushi orders pre empt customers firstly that the wait will be long so we can decide if we want to sit 1 hour for some lousy sushi rolls that you are unable to make n serve!!!!!! Would have ordered something else!! Embarrassment to my guests from overseas as they went hungry with NO dinner through the evening and the staff did nothing to rush out an order they just presented the bill for the 3 meals and shrugged their shoulders such a frigging rude bunch of staff never again to this horrible restaurant !! No system in their service and totally u acceptable customer relations!! Btw the portion of the Kat SU curry order was pathetic the pork Katsu arrived in tiny portion and looked miserable unlike the chicken katsu which was much better guess pork prices are up??? If not explain why ??? $15 for a kids portion serving size look a like??? Hey get your act together !!!!! Worst dining experience of my entire LIFE ever!!!!!!!!! Never again to this horrrible restaurant!!!! Look at the pathetic curry katsu such disparity with the chicken katsu!!! Crazeeee...

Dishes were delicious and served in good portions. We had Tatsuya Set. Sushi was fresh. Katsu was juicy but golden and crunchy outside. This comes w a side salad, which I thought had too much dressing - ask for this on the side if you don't usually use a lot of dressing. The lettuce could've been cut a bit smaller, to be manageable mouthfuls w chopsticks. However, with less dressing, it complemented the Katsu well. Note you don't get rice w this set. But the hot soba was a great complement. Since it's a set, it all comes out together. So, don't expect an entree-main time split.

Service is abrupt. They weren't unpleasant or inattentive. It was simply: sit you down, here's your water and menu, back to take order (no upselling), bring the food, bill and good night. They were polite, precise and prompt. This is nice sometimes. Dining out doesn't mean socialising with the staff. But a touch of friendliness, like a genuine smile and eye contact, can add to a better experience.

Kitchen was busy. Although there is limited seating (due to COVID safety), it felt like the food is taking awhile. But they also have to cater for a number of food delivery services. So, the hive of activity in the kitchen doesn't mean you'll get your meal in a flash. Ours were ready in a timely manner.

We had a late lunch. -Deluxe sashimi plate 32pc -Grilled Sushi Set 10pc -Soft shell Crab Roll 9pc -Takoyaki 8pc Between 2 people this was alot of food but we wanted to try a range of their food. Definetly could have ordered 1 less dish and still been full.

Overall all the food was delicious. Sashmi was really fresh and tender and melted in the mouth. Great presentation Grilled sushi set was great. Good size pieces. Takoyaki was tasty and enjoyable. Was served piping hot which made it even better. Soft shell crab roll was nice. Good piece of crab inside.

Staff were friendly, we got really quick service as there was only 1 other table of diners.

They currently have an extra 10 percent charge in place which is ontop of the billed menu price. I find it understandable with inflation and increasing prices for ingredients. We saw this in a different review so we understood this extra cost before we went.

Overall for what we ordered it was a little expensive but we were happy with the quality. Will definetly be...
