TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

On the 17th of April at 5pm I visited Siroo Cafe with my church friends. My church friend was a part-time worker there but we went because we heard that the bingsu there was delicious. We actually went somewhere beforehand and we hadn’t had dinner yet so we went there to eat deliciously. There were 13 of us altogether so we sat in front of the counter where there it was spacious. But the employee behind the worked called my friend (who was a part-time worker at the cafe) over and coerced my friend to only order one type of bingsu. My friend really wanted to order the different flavours of bingsu but the church group president overhead the conversation and said to order only one type of bingsu. My friend felt really sorry because we were put into an uncomfortable situation. Also when the employee was handing us the coffee that we ordered, she put it down with a bang and honestly it was extremely rude and unpleasant. It had not even been 30 minutes since we arrived when another part time worked called my friend (who was a part-time worker at the cafe) over and told her to quickly finish eating and leave. This was said loudly and all of us heard it. Eventually we left because we felt so bad for our friend and because the customer service was trash. We even bought a lot rice cakes on the way out because we thought that the church friend would feel bad for us. The staff at the cafe were all so offensive and rude. I kept quiet because I did not want to cause a big fuss for my church friend but I would NEVER go back to this cafe. I experienced something I never...

Anyone else reckon ice desserts taste better when it's cold? 🤣 Maybe it's that that they don't melt as quick as in the summer. This is bingsoo, a Korean shaved ice dessert which is usually topped with the likes of condensed milk, red bean or fruit. My favourite bingsoo currently is at Siroo Rice Cake, a small cafe in West Ryde which is pretty well-known in the Korean community for their rice cakes (as the name might suggest). Actually, I hear that it's the very first shop in Sydney to make and sell Korean rice cakes in-house! When you walk in, there's a table full of rice cakes in different colours, shapes and flavours. All are baked fresh every morning and sold throughout the day. But it's the bingsoo we're here for. You can order strawberry, coffee, red bean or matcha green tea flavour. Had to opt for the latter because matcha stays undefeated (don't @ me 😝). It's unlike other bingsoo in Sydney. The shaved ice is so, so soft and powdery. On a close up look you can see all of the thin ice strands, so very delicate and fine. It's topped with a scoop of ice cream on a bed of red bean, a drizzle of condensed milk, and several fresh pieces of rice cake that are super soft and chewy. The green tea flavour lives well throughout the bingsoo, and it really is a perfect 'not too sweet' ice dessert! You can probably share a small size between 2-3 people by the way so it's priced accordingly. 📍 Siroo Rice Cake...

This is one of the cafes I have been visiting over the past months as I live close to this suburb. But I don’t think this is the best one in town. I will give 4 stars for this cafe, and I will review it based on the followings:

The coffee. Their coffee is a solid 3 in my opinion. To begin with the taste is a bit too bitter, and I can barely taste the aroma of the beans, a bit over roasted to my taste buds. I have also taken a photo of the latte I ordered, and you can see there is no latte art. But I have to say that the froth is good tho.

2.rice cakes. I will give 5 stars for their rice cakes. For one you don’t find rice cake cafes often, and I think the unique experience is worth a try. For two their rice cakes actually tastes pretty good. I only get cakes when I can enjoy them with friends, if I am alone, I’d like to avoid empty calories.

3.friendliness. I would give 5 stars out of 5. Cute asian girls with smiles, and once my friend did not like the drink she ordered, the girls happily replaced the drink with a less sugary one.

Environment. I would only give 2 stars for this one. The cafe is relatively small, and the interior design and deco is not aimed at being impressive. The AC is always on which is a plus, but what really bothers me is that they don’t...
