At the Carrington, you don’t have to choose between a few drinks at the pub or a night with best little pooch friend, because at this pub, both are possible. This dog friendly gastro pub has food for both yourself and your pup.

For human food, there’s plenty of smaller dishes for entrees like salt and pepper squid, which we ordered in addition to salads, steaks, burgers and schnitzels. We love the specials on offer on our day of visit; the delicious pork and fennel meatballs with grilled broccoli and focaccia.

For the doggies, they have $6 meals; beef and veggies or rice with veggies which comes in a bowl for them, even inside the pub. As long as your dog stays on the floor and on their leash, they can stay!

It’s a pub so there’s obviously plenty of beers and wines which you can enjoy indoors or afresco.

Located on Bourke street, a quiet spot away from the busy Crown Street and the atmosphere is pleasant and chilled.

Thoroughly recommend a visit here if you’re wanting your doggie to...

The Carrington

📍 Surry Hills

👀 Featured on every dog friendly list in Sydney is The Carrington or “The Carro”. You don’t have to go to the courtyard either, the whole venue is dog friendly so your dog can sit with you while you enjoy your pub meal in a booth!

Parking is a bit tricky in the area, there’s a few streets around if you’re lucky enough to snag a spot.

One of the oldest pubs in Surry Hills established in 1877. Serving up sharing plates, pasta, and burgers & fries, plus dog eats.

💥 The front bar have booths which are always occupied first then into a dining room with a few tables.

🍷 A variety of beers, wines & cocktails. I had a beer.

Fish & Chips with cabbage slaw, tartare on special for lunch is $15 and non peak is $26. I love fries with fish so I was very happy! Good value especially on special.

I’d love to try a schnitty next time and the pup menu like beef tartare for...

Last Sunday 18th June was, frankly, a complete shambles.

A single poor barman trying valiantly to deal with drinks and food orders was overwhelmed. 4 deep at the bar it took over 30 mins to get your order in and some drinks and get back to the table.

The kitchen seemed to be efficient enough but not a single person on the floor left diners ratting through cupboards themselves to find cutlery and napkins.

Finally, when the meal arrived for oyr table of 8, those that ordered rare steaks (and in one case very rare) got steaks that were far too long on the grill..dry and way overcooked.

Guys please adjust your staffing rosters and the kitchen guys should know how to cook a steak otherwise do yourselves a favour and simply dont offer them...because I can do far better...

My partner and I chose to visit this place specifically because we could bring our dog with us. Not only are dogs welcome, but they have their own menu too! Our dog absolutely LOVED the beef tartar bowl. We also really enjoyed our meals - steak and pasta. Both were delicious and came out quickly (and I want to bathe in the red wine jus - soooo good) Incredibly friendly and attentive staff and absolutely delicious cocktails! They also sell emu export, which was very exciting for my Perth friend to hear 😂 Absolutely 10/10 recommend, and look forward to many more visits in the future.
